  • The most consequential issue for voters this past election was the economy. People are feeling inflation, whether that's through food prices, rent prices, or all of the above.

Harris didn't campaign to that. Instead, she catered to families with children - a diminishing subsect of society - and small businesses. Yes she advocated for a first time home subsidy, but no young person believes they'll truly have enough money to own a home in their lifetime.

Harris ignored the working class. And so they ignored her. Plain and simple. A political party has to fix its constituents' problems, or at least lie about it. She did neither.

    Stop making this about voters.

  • For most voters, that concession was too little too late. Effectively, her campaign still didn't support a ceasefire nor cease of arms transfers.

  • Actually China is leading the planet on renewables deployment.

I haven't combed through the data in a minute, but I want to also say that they're also leading in fossil fuel deployment too. Probably is due to their population size than anything else.

Don't worry though: America can't stand that China is doing better than them at something, so we're going to try to punish them and frame them as the bad guys since America can be the only one espousing leadership, not the Big Bad East.

  • You're right. Sad to see the down votes.

Kamala Harris was up 10 points in ratings above Trump after Biden dropped out. Every step of the way, Kamala dropped the ball and fumbled her lead with her eye on winning over conservatives.

This country is moving more and more right, and it's not the American people's fault. Democrats have stagnated ever since Obama ran on hope and change, but forgot all of that shit once in the White House.

Don't let people gaslight you here. Democrats are the ones to blame.

  • Amazingly well said. This is on party Democrats. Don't let people convince you otherwise.

  • Most of the leftists I know voted for Kamala.

And I love how Democrats' first move after losing is to blame said leftists. We were the only ones calling out the bad moves of Kamala's campaign from the beginning and warning what might happen if she didn't adopt a Walz ticket (or mostly a Walz ticket).

Democrats did this to themselves. It's the reason why they kept supporting a corpse of a candidate with Joe Biden for so long until the first presidential debate, and it's also the reason why Hillary was picked over Bernie in 2016 at the DNC.

Leftists weren't the issue. Democrats' own willingness to ignore what was happening right in front of them was the issue.

  • Thank you for bringing attention to the incompetence of Kamala's campaign. She and her campaign at one point even had to silence Tim Walz for his believes because they went against the platform.

Then the race after Republicans by uniting with the Cheneys just cucked them so hard.

Tim Walz was the key to this campaign's victory. And Kamala dropped the ball.

  • Edit: If Kamala loses, and it looks like she might, I'm blaming her and her campaign. She could have swooned the beliefs of America if she had ran on something better.

    Her political skills are trash.

Kamala gained the most approved points after Biden gave her the race.

Since then, her approval rating has plummeted compared to her early numbers, and I think this is because Kamala doesn't really know what to believe.

You can see it with Tim Walz. There was a lot of momentum when Kamala took up the mantle, and that momentum was carried through once the Walz pick came out. Then, around the DNC, the campaign's tone shifted, crawling back to the ethos of the Biden administration. I think this is because Kamala couldn't decide to break away from Biden or not, and because she waited so long, she was around a lot of the same people in the Biden administration, and those people influenced her platform. You can also see this with marijuana and how she changed sides in her time between being DA and senator. Also, how she didn't really have a solid platform to begin with, which should have been established right when Walz was picked.

I'm not here to call her out as a flip flopper. I'm pointing to how she could have steamrolled this election, but chose not to. It saddened me so much when the campaign had silence Tim for his views and policies when those views and policies were the key to victory.

  • I mean, you're right.

The fact that one of the major tauted policies of Harris' campaign was a border wall, something that Trump exclusively brought to the table in 2016, is just one example of our government racheting more and more conservative over time. Democrats used to at least advocate for America being a land of immigrants.

Really hope Harris doesn't run in 2028 if she wins 2024. We need a Democratic primary where Americans can choose those in the party who represent more progressive values than the establishment.

  • Climate? Fucked. Safety? Fucked.

  • Fairphone 5 can do that, and even give you choice over your RAM.

Although the phone isn't sold in the US, it will work the best on T-Mobile since the Fairphone 5's chipset best aligns with those frequencies (sorry for the reddit post).

Would've been my first phone after my previous 7 year old Galaxy Note9, but it incurred water damage. Definitely considering it still though even with my new phone lease because of the Fairphone 5 being unlocked

  • Everyone, except Palestine and Lebanon

  • Oof yeah true

  • I've been using Original Commenter (OC) to talk about the person who starts a comment thread. Seems to be pretty intuitive. Wonder what the acronym would be for commenters responding to OC and starting different comment branches. Probably makes sense to just use their name

  • The US is bipartisan when it comes to Israeli support because Democrats haven't broken from that bipartisan tradition.

Once Democrats do, it is no longer bipartisan.

I don't expect Conservatives to do this given what you've said, so Democrats foot the bill.

Biden has in fact already called for the cease of arms transfers, but that policy goes into effect after the election finishes. If Biden can call for it after the election, he can call for it today.

There is no reason why the Commander in Chief cannot outlaw the transfer of weapons and ammunition to Israel. We've already broken one of our laws that prevents this.

  • Oh I will always tell people to not vote for Trump. There is doing damage to our international reputation as the leader of the free world, and then there is complete and utter dismantling and destruction of the free world, us included.

I will vote and it won't be Trump, but I also want Democrats to earn my vote. The cognitive dissonance has to stop.

  • The Israeli government is being fascist, and has been for a long time. Thank you for calling it out. Sad to see the down votes because Palestinians have been locked in Israel's cage with no freedom for decades, and Lebanon is next. Hopefully society starts to shift in its outlook and complicity.

You hit the nail on the head too. So many people cannot support Democrats during this election because although they call for freedom and justice, they also call for arms transfers and no repurcussions for Netanyahu countlessly dissolving freedom and justice for Palestinians.

Voting for Democrats, unfortunately, boils down to "rights for me, not for thee", and the only difference between that sentiment and what you might find in Conservatives is that Democrats hold that distinction between all Americans and those from other countries. Conservatives hold that between different groups of Americans.

Really sours any hope I had for Kamala overtaking Biden

  • The Harris Administration is actively trying to silence Walz's beliefs.

It's ironic because it's Walz himself that has ignited support for Harris.

    So frustrating as a progressive
