  • From time to time I switch to the "All" channel

  • "Garmin Ltd. is a Swiss[7] company headquartered in Schaffhausen, Switzerland[2] with operational headquarters in Olathe, Kansas."

    https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garmin

So, its a faky Swiss company, but.. yeah.

  • It doesn't. But I wait something around 20 years for Gimp, all of my hope is gone. Inkscape evolved a lot, also Krita. Gimp just made babysteps in case of UI and UX and this is basically because of the outdated underlying technology as far as I know.

I am an FOSS frontend dev myself, so I hate to say this. I would love to fully switch to FOSS gfx software, but especially with Gimp, its a pain in the ass, to work with it.

  • Yes, but if I wait for Gimp & Co. to become an alternative, I will be long retired or - most likely - dead.

So having Affinity on Linux would be fantastic for gfx professionals.

  • I am big Garmin fan. I love my Fenix 6. But this model has no touch screen (what is a pro point in my world). They also have models with touchscreen: https://www.garmin.com/de-DE/c/wearables-smartwatches/

Garmin is a Swiss company, but their operative headquarters are located in the US. So.. not sure if its really a European company.

  • Lieferando is a vicious grasshopper. Whenever you can, you should order directly from the restaurants. But be careful, Lieferando even registers domains to give the impression that it is the restaurant's real website. This can be seen in the footer / imprint.

  • Massively crashed and still much overrated.

  • Things that happen when you rely exclusively on optical sensors, i.e. cameras. But that's just cheaper, more money for Nazi Elon.

  • Android @lemmy.world

How to get the DND switch back? (since the "Modes" update)

  • Yeah the Otto FAQs are kind of funny.. if you are on Otto.de it says:

"Does Otto also deliver abroad?" "No, we only deliver to locations within Germany."

On Otto.at: "No, we only deliver to locations within Austria."

And so on.. so I have to correct myself: If your country has its own Otto domain / Otto shop in your language, you surely can order there from your country 😌

  • I'm currently wondering whether this is going in the right direction. I understand that we are boycotting commercial products from the US, which makes perfect sense to me. But as someone who works on FOSS software myself, I wonder if we are hurting the right people by not using FOSS software that comes from the US. I think these are largely people who don't support Trump.

  • There is already a solution inside the EU, the shops just have to support it now. "Over the course of 2025, banks will no longer be allowed to charge additional fees for instant transfers in euros. Banks in all 20 euro countries must also offer the real-time service as standard."

  • You should mention that Otto is a German alternative FOR Germany. Otto does not deliver abroad. Otherwise you'll just end up leaving people disappointed.

  • Yes its a full NC instance, we use the same hosting for our companies NC and Talk is working fine.

  • Hetzner Storage Share (Nextcloud) is super cheap, managed and runs very well for me.

  • Just my 2 cents as a web developer.. I don't have any reason to quit Firefox (or Thunderbird). Yes the hole communication about PPA was a disaster and opt out is not ideal, but on the other hand the Gecko engine is so important for the open web. Without Mozilla it will surely die soon. So we end up with Blink and Webkit, both controlled by US big tech companies.

So, is it really such a good idea to penalize Mozilla in the long term? I don't think so.

If PPA really is unacceptable for you, opt out. At least its a good idea to read about this standard and then make a decision.

  • I basically struggled with the default sorting on home, which is the most 'active' topics. So I saw older posts what was really confusing, because it looked like I don't receive updates. But I found the desired setting in meantime 👍

The sort icon also is very uncommon.. I might fill an issue on Github.

Edit: Got it.. its because the icon of the current chosen sorting shows up, not a generic sort Icon.
