  • Last campaign I ran the paladin was so proud of herself for smiting down a couple lesser demons and gushed about it for the rest of the week. So for the next 3 arcs of that campaign I snuck in a cambion who was hounding the party and got his lights clocked in multiple times just knowing the dopamine release it gave that player even when every 'challenging' encounter crafter for that group was done in about 5 terms and took me nearly and hour to craft ahead of time.

    To me as the DM it's your job to learn what quirks or functionality of the players particularly enjoy about their characters and find a way to sneak in encounters, puzzles or situations that give that player time to shine and enjoy it. Even and especially if it trivializes the challenge you put into it.

    He said he's not paying for her, the implication is they are going out to eat for a date. Not chilling at home or somewhere in private. Bestie can chill somewhere else other than at the table the date is happening at, if homegirl feels threatened or scared of the guy she can signal for bestie.

    I can totally understand wanting a trusted friend around to ensure a date goes fine, hell ive done it several times for girls and guys I'm friends with. But that safety net can stay in the background and doesn't need to be at the table interfering with the date. But never once did I expect the friend I was wingmanning for to buy me food or drink while I hovered in the background. All homegirl had to say is bestie is paying their own way or homegirl was gonna give her some money.

    She's covering her butt, understandably, by bringing a friend, and he's covering his by stating he's not paying for the third wheel.

  • I couldn't make it through the first season and tried picking up season 2 to see if it improved any. Didn't watch anything past that.

    It was written by people who didn't have a good grasp on what star trek was, or thought they could remake it better for a new generation. But they ended up making something that just leaves a sour taste in your mouth if you know what that setting is capable of being.

    To me, STD and the first season or so of Picard feel exactly like when a video game you thoroughly enjoy gets adapted into movie. There's recognizable elements there, but nobody is acting the way they should and everything has that uncanny valley affect where you know what it's supposed to be but it's clearly failing to do it convincingly. It's hard to point to what is actually wrong but you know several elements are off.
