  • Not uninhabitable, just uncomfortable. My landlord is not exactly cooperative in any case, and it takes time, resources, and perhaps most of all, energy to square up seriously on such issues. He already has refused to fix the heating, the oven, the wonky electricity, and the leaky roof, and is currently trying to kick me out so he can raise rent.

Netanyahu needs Hamas to be seen as the actual government of the Palestenians, instead of the Palestinian Authority to make it that much easier to reject the two state solution. Hamas needs to trigger Israel into being brutal so that they can keep their power and reject a two state solution.

    While technically true, the recent, post-Oct 7 ceasefire attempts have failed because of Israeli intransigence more than anything. Hamas wants to resume the war (or at least the chestbeating bottle-rocket barrages) at a later date - Israel wants to finish the genocide now.

    Helpfully, the Soviet archives were opened, and contemporary historians have been able to make great progress on clarifying a lot of debated topics, and Pat Sloan’s account has survived that and been affirmed.

The lack of Soviet democracy was overwhelmingly affirmed by internal documents, not disproven, especially in the Stalinist era. But like the Holodomor and the genocide of the Poles and Crimean Tatars, you deny that too.
