  • I guess that person didn't know they could set it up themselves. Maybe they meant that it's installed and configured automatically on new installs.

  • But you can choose your login manager on Arch, too.

No, I don't know some guy called Oedipus.

  • I blame Stephanie Sterling mentioning Sacred 2

  • I think it wasn't as easy as that he "sold" the rights. If I recall correctly it was more like "we get the rights or the comic won't happen".

Remember that this was the 80s, where you needed a publisher for comics.

One of the core messages of Watchmen was that the concept of a superhero is in core a fascistic one. It's highly unlikely that further adaptions of the sourge material take the same, heavy stance.

  • I think he's completely in the right on that front. No one needed that Snyder Film, or a prequel. And you could argue that the HBO series completely goes against the spirit of the OG comic. Even if it's competently made.

  • Considering how the adaptions usually pan out: I'd say his negativity is warranted.

  • Why, what did he do?

  • It really depends on where youelive, but I cansgive two pieces of advice:

    1. Talk to your coworkers! Organizing is a bottom-up approach and organizers need to have the trust of their coworkers and listen like 80% of the time they're organizing.
    2. Search for already existing groups in your country that are actively helping folks organize! You'll not be able to do this without help and a structured approach! A good first step is looking if the IWW (the Wobblies) are active in your country. They give organizing workshops.

Here's a list of reading recommendations:

Edit: I want to stress how important a structured approach is for this. Doing it by intuition alone is very ineffective and might get you in trouble, once your bosses know what's up.

  • I don't know about hexbear, because I don't check that. But are you sure? I really don't see any condoning of Rusian imperialism at all on lemmy.

What I did see a lot is that you get accused of being a Russian troll if you talk about the reasons why Russia invaded Ukraine and insinuate that the so-called west had anything to do with that.

But trying to understand the reasons why something happens does not mean that you condone the actions. It is widely accepted that the treatment of Germany in the treaty of Versailles is part of the reason why the Nazis came into power. But mentioning that doesn't mean that you condone them.

  • This video shows the difference quite neatly. (Timestamp included for Earthworm Jim)

  • My point was that it basically muddies the waters of the meaning of it all, if that makes sense.

I think it's still useful to have one term to express the act of projecting power beyond a nation's borders. It doesn't muddy anything if you still accept that there exist different kinds of imperialism.

Growing an economy mustn't be invading a sovereign country.

It most certainly can help though.

  • Also sounds like it is written to make invading an "extreme case" (so rare) and shoehorn it in so that every country on earth is doing it

The fact that every (capable) country is doing it is kinda the whole point. Capitalist nation states (that includes China) want their economies to groW. And the companies that do that growing have an interest to also employ capital, resources and work power from other countries.

Capital doesn't want to be impeded by borders.

  • Can you make the circle that's formed by the middle stripes on the right be the circle for the Circle-A, or would that not work?

I guess that the A ieeds to have another color, then, which would probably decrease readability.
