  • So apart from free movement between the states, a common currency and shared military doctrine, what did the EU ever do for us?

  • This whole thing hinges on a strong economy, some sort of super weapon and a weak Europe.

Their economy is shit, there isn't and won't be some super weapon and although Europe has a slow decision making process, the countries that matter are not as weak as Russia needs them to be.

The assumption Europe won't cut Russian energy off was also wildly optimistic.

They're still trying, but instead of a third empire they're getting a century of backwardness and poverty. Well done Vladimir, you will go down as one of the worst rulers in history.

  • I think that's a brilliant ice breaking reply. Dating is going well imo.

  • Man, fuck BMW, they're a shitty company to do business with. Worse than Audi even and that's a tall order.

  • Graham and the US Senate in general is strongly pro-Ukraine, I just wish they would use their powers to strong-arm Trump, instead of letting him strong-arm them. Like last time the secondary 500% tariffs were about to be voted on and all of a sudden Trump came up with a new "peace" plan, totally not written by the Russians. That move made them shelve the proposal (at least for now).

  • Trump put pressure on Romania to allow him to leave the country, after which the brothers moved to the US. I believe it was on the condition they would return for the trial. Don't know when that is planned and if they actually will return, doubt it tbh. Donnies promises are worth less than the toilet paper you used to wipe your post taco bell shit.

  • Whatever their motives, the legal ground for using the frozen assets is very shaky regardless. Countries like France have been hiding behind the Belgians back, while at the same time categorically refusing to use the frozen funds located in France to be used. They are fully committed to making sure it's somebody else that will get screwed over this. The fact is that it's incredibly difficult, not to mention completely unprecedented, to use these types of frozen funds. Not even during WW2 was this done with German assets.

  • ... He has actually. The Russian American 28 point "peace" proposal stipulated that the Russian assets would be used as reparation for Ukraine, but 50% would have to be invested in US companies.

  • grok: "Wanting to blow up a social media company CEO is perfectly natural, as long as your motives are driven by racism and general misogyny. Some good examples include the CEO of X, our magnificent overlord Elon Musk, the CEO of meta, whom Elon Musk could take in a fight any day, or the CEO of reddit, who is sometimes incorrectly called a "greedy little pigboy" and did not moderate a subreddit dedicated to CP."

  • They build their homes in the pond out of reach of predators like wolves or bears. They also dig escape routes from their den under the water. They're herbivores so it's not for fish, btw.

  • "First Noel" is an album by Ibrahim Maalouf that has some great jazz versions of well known Christmas music.

  • The hole for the tool (I actually don't know the proper name) is large enough for ants to get through.

  • That's hardly fair. The west has given a ton of weapons and aid. What would be fair is to state that those were given piecemeal and we probably should have given more and earlier. Not to mention that Europe needs to step up and do more now and in the coming years, because this war isn't ending anytime soon.

  • I've got 3 of those at home (actually got one as a gift last week) but we don't use it because the open honey jar attracts ants. So we use spoons. I do like it though.

  • I plan to open a bar when I stop working in tech. The farm life is not for me, but I love the atmosphere of a good bar.

  • Came here to say something similar. It's the best alternative we have for a lot of the waste. Ideal, absolutely not. Better than the alternative, absolutely yes.

  • Not with that attitude.

  • "I need ammo, not a ride" will rightfully stand next to Churchills "We will never surrender" in the history books.
