  • In my experience, firefly is not aimed at household or personal finance. It is very obviously made by and for accountants.

    Actual Budget is much more approachable for the normal home user, and very similar to the successful YNAB.

  • your muscle memory might like the fact Edit shares many of the latter’s keybindings. This could make it easier to slot in to your workflow compared to vim or nano (though I stress it’s not a replacement for either of those).

    I have no experience with vim, only deep fear. But tell me how this new edit could not be a replacement for nano? I use nano a lot and it's quite simple?

    That's why I learned nano in 1993 and never grew from there.

  • DGT GTD is an old Android app for task tracking. It is ugly and incredibly useful. Lives entirely in the phone, no cloud subscription, no paid plans, nothing.

    I have used it forever. There is no good alternative.

    The current app "Chaos Control" is a close contender, but pricey and cloud connected.

  • I use Beeper which shows me a unified view of whatsapp and Signal and others. whatsapp itself has zero permissions on my phone. I hate that I need to have it at all but Europe is deep into that. Sigh.
