Ich nicht. Schon alleine einen permanenten Server zu haben würde die meisten Leute die ich kenne schon überfordern, solange es keine "ich stecke es ein und es läuft einfach" Lösung ist. Und dann muss man das Ding erstmal noch aus'm Internet net nicht nur dem lokalen Netzwerk (was auch schon zwei Schritte weiter ist als der durchschnittliche Nutzer heutzutage versteht) erreichen können.
Da dann auch noch etwas fediversiges drauf zu hosten ist sehr viel verlangt, spätestens wenn es das erst mal Probleme gibt.

Interesting. No matter which domain name I check with my registrar, .io is always ~9€ per month and .com is ~2€ per month (if it's available that is).
Some registrars (like GoDaddy) like to basically do squatting themselves, and then offer you that domain as a "premium domain", costing whatever they think they can press out of you for that domain. So that's not the registering price, it's the squatting price.
