  • I am fascinated to see how this tech becomes miniturized and commercialized, 100% will be what causes the singularity, not from creating artificial people, but by becoming an implant enhancement that will almost definitely radically change how people that get it think and interact with the world around them in ways that are physically impossible for us to predict.

    I swear I am convinced at this point that we won't see major progressive initiative in the democratic party until those of us that actually show up find our 20 closest friends and drag them by the hair to register and cast the ballot during the primaries, and then do it again in the general because by then they'll be saying their own guys are shitlibs or whatever excuse to not be accountable to the cause.

  • I mean taxation can be a strong correcting force when applied well.

    For example, exponentially increasing the property tax on housing that you don't live in for a minimum of four months out of the year.

    Doesn't sound too exciting, but landlords would basically be limited to three properties before the economy of scale made hoovering up the entire local housing market impractical, and it also severely puts the rates up on company landlords since it is not possible for them to live in any property, only operate out of one.

    End result, massive flood of units onto the open market, lowering housing costs, and costs of living by extension since those usually rise with housing prices as well.
