  • While I appreciate calling out predatory and unethical business practices, can someone explain why "Darrow bought the idea for a low price and no royalty rights" is different than "Magie sold for a low price and no royalty rights"?

By all means, if there's a story about unethical coercion or misleading (that's the foundation of capitalism after all), I'd like to hear more about it. But if Magie didn't care enough about the idea and sold it for a quick buck to a capitalist to do with it what they would, I gotta say, I can't really blame Darrow for buying something they thought had value that Magie didn't think had value.

Reading Magie's wikipedia page suggests Darrow ripped it off, despite several patents, and her game, The Landlords Game, being published by another game company, and he sold it to Parker Brothers (who had already published her games before).

Sounds more like Darrow stole the idea and Parker Brothers negligently (or willfully) disregarded patents because they were big enough to get away with it.

  • I'm unhappy about it. Lots of beautiful places in America; good family memories there. Plenty of good, honest people there that don't deserve this shit.

It sucks to have to completely boycott the whole country, but it's what has to happen.

We'll have to see if we can support our neighbours again after the war (the civil war, not the trade war. At least we can hope it's a civil war)

  • It's this. Stay the fuck down until your row is clearing.

  • And 2 hours later... lunch!

  • More like 30 minutes of whatever you get paid, as all fiscal punishments should be measured

  • I dont think a "too long grass" fine is unreasonable. I think if you can completely obscure a 5' tall figure standing upright in your grass alone, maybe a 30 minute fine is reasonable.

... it's how much? For being how long?

  • Ah yes, prefacing comedy with an indication that what he's about to say shouldn't be taken as an academic truth... what a bastard.

Dude needs to focus his comedy on whatever niche hobby he has the most factual knowledge about instead of talking about uncertain and/or complex socio-political issues at the forefront of our cultural attention.

And doing it for money no less? Smh

  • "So now we're going to start practicing capitalism. Buy your own fucking blocks, you freeloading piece of shit! I don't even want these, but you sure as shit can't have them!"

  • Theres a fire in my kitchen, but the fire extinguisher is only going to stop like 25% of the damage, so I'm committed to not stopping the fire.

To be clear, I also don't support the fire. But the fire extinguisher is:

    • filled with chemicals
    • makes a huge mess
    • costs money to recharge
    • may cause other damage from overspray

So the best thing for me and my kitchen is to do nothing until they make a "fix my kitchen" spray.

  • "Oxy" is great because it also doubles with the word association "moron" so we're subconsciously berated as well.

  • Oh, that's some context

  • Is it like that cilantro-soap thing in people's genes?

Because you're absolutely right and it's absolutely baffling that the company still makes chocolate after WWII when it was presumably used to booby trap MREs against Nazi looters.

  • "What's he doing with his hands?"

"Oh shit, he's casting a spell! Tie him up!"

"Nice try, hombre. You're going away for a long time now!"

  • What is this, a Seinfeld episode?

Jerry: "How'd the date go last night?"

Elaine: "Ugh, total bust! We spent the whole time arguing about calamari!"

Jerry: "Arguing about calamari? Like fried squid?"

    Elaine gestures there you go

George: "It's deep fried, what's not to like?"

Elaine: "He doesn't even know what it is!"

Jerry: "Never had calamari? What a sad life..."

    Kramer enters. Applause.

    Elaine: "Kramer. What's calamari?"

Kramer: "Disgusting. That's what it is."

Jerry: "We're not talking about the same calamari here."

Kramer: "It's like chewing on rubber bands!"

Jerry: "You're not still going to Bosco's are you?"

    Kramer: "I like Bosco."

George: "Didn't the health board shut them down?"

Kramer: "That's how you know it's authentic."

Elaine: "Can we get back to my problem, please?"

Jerry: "I'll tell you what, let's all go out. Elaine, you can bring you can bring your boyfriend. I'll show you all what calamari is supposed to taste like."

Elaine: "Well, do the have caviar?"

Jerry: "Caviar? What am I made of money? Why caviar?"

Elaine: "That's what he thinks calamari is!"

    George: "Did you correct him?"

Elaine: "Yes, George, I corrected him. I corrected him for 45 minutes!"

Kramer: "Well why didn't you just order the calamari and show him?"

Elaine: "We were at a coffee shop."

Kramer: "Oh, they don't serve calamari at coffee shops."

Elaine: "...I know. I didn't expect to have to defend the reality of what calamari is when we made the date."

  • There's already no requirements and you really only need to omit the truth in your vague dogwhistly interview.

"I'm just fed up with what's been allowed to happen in our country!"

"It's high time we did something about these illegals (convicted felon and corrupt oligarchy) that ruin everything for the rest of us!"

"These people need to go back where they belong (safe in their communities)!"

  • people later in the day get fucked by 30-40m

That's not at all how time works.

If a doctor has 1 hour appointments, scheduled on the hour, and everyone is 5 minutes late, the schedule is now every hour on the :05.

Your 9:00 arrives at 9:05 and runs to 10:05, but that's fine because your 10:00 is 5 minutes late, so they're now on time. It's not cumulative at all.

  • "They shouldn't waste my time waiting for them, they should be early and waste their time waiting for the appointment!"

No, but seriously, +/- 5 minutes is what it is. After that, it varies a lot on context.
