I was playing Divinity Original Sin recently. After I got Pet Pal, what the animals think of each other and the people around them gave me a lot of good laughs.
What I mean by listening to music on the phone is, listening to lossless files from the phone's internal storage using my old JBL or Sony. Even if wirless are better now a days, what if my old headphones are not bad too? A new Bluetooth headphone of the same quality cost a fortune too. Of course there are Smartphones still has the 3.5mm jack, like my current Sony. Or a USB-C adapter is the only way to go in the future? The problem is, why take people's options away if you don't care about ultra thin thickness? Fairphones themselves are not thin either.
And DAC is simply a different thing. If listening from home, there are different set ups for that with speakers. And my home sound systems are even older. They are not consumer products that you throw away every five years.
For me, I already have very good headphones from years ago, and they are all working. I don't want to buy additional Bluetooth headphones just for a Smartphone. Why do I have to buy additional gears just to be able to use my perfectly functional old ones? Or do I have to accept that Smartphones nowadays are just not for music?
Growing up in the Metric environment, I only have to deal with the Imperial system very rarely before the Internet. But later, I found out there's a whole country that only use Imperial, and that they almost always demand you convert your system to the one they understand, and almost never bothered with Metric when they write anything. But then again, I found out that they also use units that are totally novel. I just have to accept that this is the character of them, and continue using Metric.
Films about exorcism. Even if I have religious family members, my non-religious mind can't comprehend the point about these films, no matter how hard I try.
It really depends on what you think about as cheating. I mod my Bethesda games and Stardew Valley heavily to the point that mod file sizes are way past the game file sizes themselves, but some people consider that as cheating, as I'm not playing the original games, I'm not experiencing the original spirits of them. Some people heavily against this. Is altering games only consider as cheating in online games or in all games?
This, and I think Flohmarkt is not enough. Many craftsmen only publish their researches and sell their works on Facebook, for example Adam Bodorics Swordmaker. Their crafts are excellent, but they don't appear anywhere else. The only choice I've made now is sadly just avoid them.
Yeah, the guilt for not give them enough never left you. I'd like to move on, but even after many years, even after my family added another cat to our family, I still fear for the worst.
I treat these people like those who think the Earth is flat. Ordinary foreigners may not be actively followed by someone nowadays. But things like heavy censorship, starvation in certain recent situations, travelling restrictions, they may never experience them in their own country their whole life. Nor did their parents experienced something far, far worse. Those who live to tell the story maybe lucky or unlucky. They never have to tell those things only privately.
It really puzzles me that many people in this thread that don't know to what degrees an authoritarian country censors their dada, never lived in one, and can't read their language, somehow think giving your personal information to that one is better. Being able to discuss such things is already a privilege. If your bag has to be searched twice a day just to be able to commute, I thought you will at least feel uncomfortable.
The Americans I've met in real-life were quite chill, and reasonable. But on the Internet I too have a feeling that they are expressing stressfulness more. It seems to me they can freely talk about the things they hate, and they do it, to the point many things on the Internet about the US are those. And it's hard to touch grasses in Winter.
I have to admit, you are right. If there is nothing been stuffed into their minds, most people really don't know what to do with themselves, just like Montag's wife from Fahrenheit 451. But there are differences between actively seek something you interested in than going blank and let the algorithms do the job for you. I thought people in Fediserse mostly against the idea of the latter. Otherwise, you will go to Tiktok or something.
