  • Also why does the cover of this book spell it weirdly? Words don’t tend to have a double consonant when -ification is put at the end. For example, pontification, gamification, etc. If we must use this stupid word, it should be “enshitification” without the extra t in the middle.

  • Time to go to the public library and borrow some DVDs, internet video is over.

  • You can be sure that the first thing Trump did after he was carted off from the shooting was call at least twelve plastic surgeons (presumably on speaker).

  • There are way too many names, numbers, and other specific details for any AI to have all of that right.

  • I don't know, it looks like you might have to wade through a swamp of superhero nonsense to get to the interesting part. But maybe you shouldn't listen to me, I couldn't get through Andor because of the silly Star Wars shit, and everyone else on this website seems to love that show. Perhaps I just have an unusually low tolerance for the franchise tie-in bullshit that American storytelling needs to be coated with to get a production funded.

  • Yeah, they would have shouted some sort of old timey slur for Bavarians or Burgundians or whatever at him.

  • Upon hearing that more weapons are crossing more borders, the CIA ghoul grins.

  • Yes that’s all well and good for programming computer code, but that’s not how making arguments through human-readable prose works.

  • It’s interesting how this site hides their direct and clear recommendation to de-Google the Google phone on a completely different page from their recommendation to buy the Google phone, which is much more vague on the matter at best. Maybe it really is an ad after all.

  • Yes, considering the average westerner’s privacy is essentially exploited by Google every single day, telling the privacy-conscious person to just shut up and buy the Google phone without discussing alternatives makes this website read like it’s just another ad on an internet filled with ads.

  • The people who are powerful and in charge.

  • Yeah, I prefer Picard.

  • Oh just like razors and inkjet printers and phone contracts and smart TVs and fucking everything else in this scam zone we all live in

  • In most of the rich world internet connectivity was fairly complete by that point at most homes and workplaces. Just not the mobile internet. Yes smartphones existed, but very few people had them until well into the 2010s.

  • It “worked” for Covid, right?

  • Dust off your crossbows and halberds, it’s time for 100 Years War 2.

  • ”It stretches 9,481 feet end to end, according to Chinese state media — almost the length of the National Mall in Washington”

I can guarantee that “Chinese state media”, whoever that is, said precisely none of this. The publication would have had a name and author, they would have provided their own quoted source for measurements, those measurements would have been in metric, and they absolutely would have not said how many national malls or shopping malls or football fields or hamburgers the bridge is equivalent to.
