  • There's a middle ground. The near future of the party is Ron DeSantis and JD Vance, the smoothed down versions of Trump. I don't think that works and someone new will come out fully populist with authoritarian edges, maybe a Hispanic man to help attract the working class beyond just white people, that seems to be the growth opportunity Republicans need and maybe that solidifies Arizona/Nevada/Texas for them while they put all the effort into the Blue Wall and North Carolina.

  • I am frankly shocked that the trans stuff apparently works, well enough to be a main thrust of an ad campaign. Like I fully get there's a subset of Americans who are not comfortable with the concept, dislike trans people, think it's immoral or whatever. But it's such a big deal to you that we need a particular political party in charge so they can ban stuff? I just can't relate to that. But it's common enough that they run these ads, it's either firing up true believers or actually converting people. Somehow.

  • Googling this, it seems like he's trying to EMPHASIZE Harris working there when she was younger. If he actually does this, it will backfire spectacularly.

    If he says she's lying about working there, it just looks like an insane conspiracy theory because it's one of the most common jobs. It's not like an impossible thing.

    If he tries to say it's easy so no one should be impressed with her, he just insults every fast food worker in America.

    I think this is a really smart move if he never mentions Harris, it makes him look more down to Earth and humble which...he needs. If he's doing it as a commentary on Harris, it's going to backfire.

    Sort of seems like "do you want a balanced budget" ...yes of course. "Do you want to raise taxes or cut spending to achieve that?" ...no I would never want either of those options.
