  • Fair enough. I didn't mean to imply that we're as good as the French at protesting. I don't think anyone is. They are the world champion protestors. I wonder what platform they use to organize.

  • Yes, I covered that in my comment.

  • Are you saying that if the people organizing the event aren't members of Congress, that they will be targeted and vanish? That's a scary thought. Perhaps the leaders should be kept anonymous.

  • I would argue that we are. 21,000 in Paris is very similar to 34,000 in Denver. The thing us Americans need to get better at is organizing ourselves. We shouldn't require leaders like Bernie Sanders and AOC to get us to show up. The regular people of France are amazing at protesting on their own, and we desperately need that kind of energy.

  • This is one of those comments where I didn't realize how badly I needed to read it until I did. This kind of support from the countries our dictator is actively alienating is extremely beneficial for morale. Thanks!

  • Deal with it? You mean, like, primary you and the 9 other simps who voted for this bill? Okay. That's good advice, thanks Fetterman.

  • I hope you're right. Zelenskyy not being a politician probably helped him win an election in a country with a history of corruption. People were sick of the status quo and picked an outsider in the hopes it would improve things. It would be great if that happened here. (I don't consider Trump an outsider, that was just part of the grift)

Part of the reason it can be annoying when people keep suggesting Stewart run for office is that it distracts from actual candidates who are willing to run. And false optimism isn't exactly a good strategy in times like these.

I would love to be proven wrong, though.

  • I do. It doesn't change what he has said repeatedly: he has no interest in running for office.

  • The kind that is supposed to be an animal, but has successfully separated itself from nature through technology. Modern humans are plagued with anxiety and negativity bias, because those things kept our ancestors alive long enough to reproduce. The happy, anxiety-free people were careless and died before they could reproduce.

  • Why do people keep saying this about Jon Stewart? He's a comedian, and he has said over and over and over and over and over that he will not run for public office, ever.

  • I wish I could award this comment. It follows my occasional and unfulfilling conversations with Republicans extremely closely. If the conversation doesn't end with wanting to pull my hair out and put my head through the nearest available drywall, did I really talk to Republican?

  • Vegan ice cream has fiber. Coconut ice cream, unless it's vanilla, tastes exactly the same as regular ice cream. Except it has a smaller carbon footprint and some actual nutrition. It's not good for you of course, but the fiber makes it so it's actually filling. And most modern diets have fiber deficiencies.

  • I was promised ducks, but only received duck. I am outraged but will let it slide because this singular duck is pretty dope.

  • Right on. Any compromise with a fascist turns everyone involved into fascists. These spineless Democrats are too damned comfortable in their cushy six figure part-time gigs, and need to be reminded who they work for.

I want everyone who voted to approve the appointments of RFK, Hegseth, etc. primaried ASAP.

  • Fair enough. People are fatigued by the constant barrage of political posts, I just figured there were rules against this sort of thing. I'm new to Lemmy and still figuring out how to even view the rules in the voyager app.

  • Does that list include the same political posts that have infested damn near every other sub in existence? I go to shitpost subs for silliness, not more of the same crap we get everywhere.

  • This does NOT belong in the sub.
