  • THAT WAS IT!!! Thank you so much 😁😁😁 Oh my goodness 😲 such a blast from the past. Also makes me realise that it wasn't moving all the time but it was size that indicated importance. Honestly I couldn't find this no matter how hard I looked. I was sure it was long gone. Wow...

  • I've never taken any medication and don't intend to. The thing I'm obviously not successfully getting across though is that what I'm describing to you is not an uncomfortable life in any way. I love the way my brain works 🙂 Really I'm just after a news reader of some kind that would work at the same speed that my brain hoovers up information. Also, I think you've probably called me an addict enough times now thanks.

  • It's not that. I've always felt more comfortable when there is a lot of information in front of me (hence my original question). I love shopping in large supermarkets for example. All those packages and brands, colours and words. It literally makes me happy and I often walk around just smiling because my brain feels peaceful when there's lots happening all around me. The caveat to that is if I'm being compelled to do anything in particular with this information by anyone, like a teacher or a manager. So long as there are no bad consequences if I don't take in all the information and process it according to someone else's rules, then it's blissful. It also makes me basically unemployable, which is why I've mostly run my own businesses all my life! 🤣 Also, because of this, I didn't have a very good time at school, specially at a time when no one knew about ADHD. The habits I've described may look like addictions but they aren't. It's just the way my brain has worked for over half a century now.

  • Thanks for your obviously well meaning reply but my brain has always worked this way. For decades... I play incremental online games half a dozen at the same time and watch news feeds that way too. Even before the web was born I would gather multiple tv's and have them play a whole array of programs simultaneously. I cannot watch movies in the cinema and I fast forward through everything I watch. I also watch almost any YouTube video at 2x speed. Not being able to flip between multiple sources constantly is a real and genuine struggle. I asked this question simultaneously to ChatGPT, by the way, and it agreed with you about RSS Feed readers 🙂

  • Wow, I had a look around on Google maps for "solar panels in NW China’s Qinghai Province"... it's incredible and so vast and there's so many other massive solar and wind farms everywhere as well. How do they keep them clean? Surely output must degrade over time no? There's even one where they made it into the shape of a giant horse. I guess that must be the logo of the energy company? Amazing...

  • Can't math so would do it entirely visually and I would get it wrong but feel happy that I'd picked a number (in this case 215) and been able to move on 🤣

  • So... Reeves thinks taxing landlords using NI will make them sell up and release properties into the market which will drive down prices. What is more likely to happen though is that taxing landlords more = landlords immediately charge more rent = fewer people rent = more people buy houses = increased demand drives house prices up = landlords charge even more rent as their property is worth more now = landlords make more money than ever and renters get unbelievably screwed in a rental market that was already bleeding them dry. Reeves makes £2Bn though, so what's a few more homeless families eh?

  • The thing about climate change that most governments seem to want more than anything, is for us ordinary people to know that it's our fault it's happening, not theirs. Decades of gaslighting just to make sure we all feel the climate is going crazy because we didn't individually recycle enough.

  • Maybe the reveal will be that it was made entirely with AI? Shenanigans vibes for sure...

  • This seems deliberately bad. It kind of reminds me of those games designed to prove a point about Steam or something "HAHA Nobody saw the trick I was playing on them. I made this game in 20 minutes and thousands of people wishlisted it." That sort of thing? I could be wrong though. Just feels like it's something along those lines.

  • Quick update apparently 5 days later, I've now played 55 hours of this... Such an addictive game! 😁

  • "Ukraine's Zelenskyy"? Phew I'm so glad they specified the country. I thought they were talking about my local postman for a minute. What's old Barnaby Zelenskyy done now, I wondered.

  • Yeah, mine would be the same, with an added bit describing how by the time I left I had gotten trapped in an inescapable cycle of toxic posting and was actually very grateful for the mod wars giving me the lever I needed to get out and stay out. On that note I just wanted to also say how genuinely thankful I am to the multi named beast that is Fedia.io/Mbin/Kbin/Lemmy/PieFed for giving me a much nicer place to exchange thought noodles with others 😁

  • I would have said Super Mini Mart when I started this thread but then @Kolanaki mentioned Supermarket Simulator and I've been playing it ever since (13hrs so far lol). It's got a few issues out of the box, including some oddly loud chirpy bird sounds but also has such an active nexus mod community that you can pretty much fix anything you want that you don't like in it (including those damn birds😆). Id' say give either that or Super Mini Mart a go. The inKonbini prologue demo is great too.

  • I just bought Supermarket Simulator and played it for 5 hours straight. It's so addictive!! 😆 That birdsong gets on your nerves after a while but I saw there's a mod that removes it so I'll try that tomorrow.

  • That looks pretty cool actually and I've just seen you can get self checkout tills too. Might have to give it a try. Not a big fan of them adding crime though. I used to run a shop a few years ago and crime was never a fun thing to have to deal with.

  • Just the songs? (laughs in ADHD) 🤣

  • I've got 500hrs in that game! This is the best news I've heard all year 😆 Signed up for the Pioneer Program immediately, of course without reading the T&C's properly, just like any loyal LYNX employee should! Oh boy, can't wait to "disagree and commit" some more.
