  • My mom would have to make me put books down to eat dinner. Then came along 5th grade. We had to read 50 books, each one representing a US state and the states were grouped up in different categories. The books had to be chosen from a pre approved list and the books were anywhere from 6th grade to 8th grade reading difficulty. Then we had to write a full page summary on the book. Which meant on average we were reading more than a book a week. That piled on top of all the other homework the other teachers piled on and it was fucking miserable. I spent almost every school night from the moment I got home to the moment I had to go to bed doing homework, also I had to get up early because I was the first bus stop so yay getting up at 5:30 AM to make the bus. Bonus was I was also the last stop so I got to spend over 2 hours a day on the bus. I usually had so much homework that I'd start doing it on the bus home. Oh and if you fell behind in reading you got punished by staying inside for 2nd recess to read more. By the time I left 5th grade I hated school, I hated reading, I hated teachers, and I hated learning. And I still do to this day. I feel like the education system failed me and I'm suffering for it now.

  • I've had it blocked at my DNS for years because I got tired of my eardrums being blown out every time I clicked a link because Instagram didn't (or still doesn't) have a volume slider for desktop.

  • I believe a dude on YouTube for a very popular streamer used an IP from Argentina to get 50 subs for YouTube premium to giveaway for only a couple bucks.

  • Just do it already. I'm tired.

  • Obviously...

  • I guess I meant not all of them and especially not at the same time but that wasn't clear in my first post. I understand that a baseline is needed but if during daytime they're generating excess constantly then shutting down a few wouldn't hurt. Especially since Germany is one of the biggest offenders in the world when it comes to coal. Storage is definitely a concern but in case of surges there's other power from neighboring countries that can help with the demand. Sodium ion batteries are looking like a good possibility.

  • They could always just close their coal power plants. Idk why they don't.

  • Samsung isn't what they used to be. 5-10 years ago they were fine but they've really gone downhill with customer support and quality. I'll be looking at another manufacturer next time I need an SSD.

  • Agreed. Anything sold with the intention of being used with a subscription service should have 10 years of support.

  • Okay techbro

  • So this is scam right? Overpromise on a product that doesn't work then sell the company for some huge price because it's cutting edge technology? Because it feels like a scam.

  • They changed the lights here so that when one road goes red then it'll wait 2-3 seconds for the cross traffic. Problem is that everybody knows this so it's almost a guarantee that someone will run the red light. Usually it's 3-4 if in busy areas. I've seen hundreds of times where our light will go green and still 3 more cars blow through. Which means that light has been red for them for a good 5 seconds. Longer than most yellow lights.

  • That's probably why I don't feel good at programming. I just don't have "that project" I want to do yet so I'm stuck in tutorial hell where I can finish the tasks but tell me to go build a website and I'm lost on where to start. Odin Project at least forced me to start from scratch after a while, but it really shows just how bad my planning is to build something from the ground up.

  • Got into a huge argument with my dad and almost lost all contact with him from right wing brainwashing. We're good now but it's scarry just how far the right will go to tear families apart just to get what they want. I hope every last GOP member burns a slow painful death.

  • Pretty sure that's how modern art works.

  • This. I'd regularly get packages 3-5 days after ordering with prime. No reason to keep paying for a service I'm not getting.

  • Have they not seen the movie Stealth?

  • Or maybe Google should just improve the experience so people want to pay for a premium subscription. But instead of investing in a better user experience they'd rather intentionally make it worse to drive consumers to pay to unshitify it. But instead they're blowing loads of cash which could be used to invest in the platform and turn even more profit, but they're using it to fight a war with their customers for short term profits. They are dumb.
