  • There is a great song by the German punk band „Team Scheiße“, „FA“, with the refrain „Bist du anti Antifa, bist du Fa“ which translates to „If you’re anti Antifa, you’re fa[shist]. A bit simplistic but true.

  • I see, why they’re obsessed. Because despite all its problems the EU shows that there is a better alternative to strongman dictatorships and the destruction of states. It does what states and governments should do, establish regulations to protect its citizens from harm. Which a completely free market would never do.

  • Yeah, if you wanted something a bit more legit, https://www.highlandtitles.com/ offers to become a „Lord/Lady of the Glen“™️. And they are open about it being just for fun. They state:

**You will be addressed by your choice of Laird, Lord or Lady of the Glen by us and within our 300,000+ strong community. Please note you cannot buy a noble title. This is for enjoyment purposes only. *You obtain a personal right to a souvenir plot of land. Highland Titles remains as the registered landowner and manages the land on your behalf.

But you get a nice printout and some trinkets as well…

  • Klar ändert das nichts an X oder Musk. Dennoch finde ich, dass das ein wichtiges Symbol wäre.

  • And this is how you further damage democracy and strengthen the far right. Because a lot of the people who don’t vote or vote for the far right are people who feel left behind who are of the impression that the system is broken and they don’t benefit from it. Social welfare is a way to directly show everyone what a democratic state is good for. Policies that benefit the poor, the working class and the middle class make a strong society. But Merz and others simply don’t seem to get it or care and stare in wonder at the ever rising numbers of people who want to see the world burn.

  • In my town there ist one restaurant which offers this as smoker’s breakfast, including coffee.

  • As part of the woke crowd, what I want to see is the „mainstreamification“ of respect for and safety of the people in sex work. You know, because they’re people.

  • I‘m at least adjacent to this group. I have this drawer where my mail goes after reading. So there’s a bunch of stuff in there which is quite important and waits for the day the drawer gets full and I finally have to file it.

  • Samesies

  • Yes!

  • I think it’s great!

  • Sadly, that’s true.. But it seems to be escalating.

  • You should check the documentation in your local capitalist agency office for when you signed up. Maybe your minimum term is soon ending.

  • As shitty as that is of him, this is sadly what often happens with homeless people or people with substance abuse problems. Push them away, so people no longer see the problems that society should try to help with. Which by the way is something a government should do. So a president who sees a lot of homeless people on his daily routes could get the idea that his government should do something? Well unsurprisingly, not this one..

  • If I know, I‘ll probably pass someone asking for money, I try to have some change prepared, so I don’t have to get out my wallet. (Where I live, there are just a few places where that’s likely. ) I usually just say no if unprepared. My basic assumption is that someone asking for money in the streets is worse off than me, so it’s nice if I can help. But then again, if I don’t feel safe, I won’t give anything and since I can’t help everyone I don’t feel bad not giving anything.

  • As a young adult, last year in school and first year out I kind of had this. There was a bar in our town where we went to, not every day but very often. It was a great time!

  • I found it hard to find where the cost comes from in this article. I found this other article (in German) that gives more detail.

    https://www.forschung-und-wissen.de/nachrichten/oekonomie/jedes-auto-kostet-die-allgemeinheit-5.000-euro-pro-jahr-13375828

They identified 23 factors, among them

    • buying the car
    • maintenance
    • gas
    • insurance
    • public infrastructure
    • pollution
    • acceleration of climate change
    • noise pollution
    • drivers license
    • public space
    • impediments for non motorists

Good to know, that I should be rich, since I don’t own a car. 👍

  • Now I know why my cat does this!

  • On the one hand: Two cats are better than one! 😻 On the other hand: Every time I did that in the past, the cats hated each other. I still had two cat friends instead of one. But that’s just my experience, I know of a lot of cases, where this worked out fine. Just make sure to check with your landlord first and that you are able to deal with the possible cat drama.
