  • Many people are rehashing it in defense, because these posts always start with assigning blame for not voting in Harris.

It would be great if the Democratic Party started running a more popular platform and won the election by something other than begrudging lesser-of-two-evils votes. Obama’s first term showed how powerful that could be.

Hopefully the Democratic Party has learned that bringing a status-quo to a populist fight isn’t a good idea, but I’m not holding my breath on that anymore.

  • Wall Street has never had a problem with Nazis

  • Good thing the Democrats decided that appeasing a foreign government was more important than representing their own citizenry and winning the election. Their part in this whole thing was entirely their own choice.

  • The first step is to stop pretending like the old one still works. It seems convenient that there’s still a skeleton of a functional party there to rebuild from, but it’s so thoroughly poisoned that it’s probably better to abandon it and start fresh.

  • For those upmodding, this guy is saying that the Irish are antisemitic because they’re speaking out against the Israeli genocide. Just to make that clear.

  • I voted for her because she was the lesser evil, but describing her as just “not the perfect progressive candidate in every way” is a gross misrepresentation. She was probably the most right leaning Democratic candidate to run in a general election and was openly adopting many of the Republican stances. There were basically two Republicans running.

  • Absolutely.

Framing this whole thing as if we would be rallying behind the mega corps who run on (what should be completely illegal) exploitation is a bit weird.

  • That’s not true. Even diplomats, who this clause was written for, can be expelled from the country.

  • Subsidies to the health insurance industry so that we can avoid fixing our health care system.

  • In your melodramatic fantasy, the government would be the ones putting people in “conversion camps” and post-Luigi demonstrated very clearly that the ruling elite are not allowed to be seen as subject to the same reality as the rest of us. Tim Cook won’t end up anywhere and if he does, I’ll eat my hat. Screenshot this post.

  • The frothing troglodyte Trump fanatics may care about stuff like that, but the ruling class don’t break ranks over petty stuff like that. Culture war nonsense is to keep the plebs divided and pliable.

  • It’s about it being a low effort post that doesn’t add much to the discussion. A description of why someone would want to click on the link would go a long way.

[That’s aside from the fact that the only people who seem to want to turn a nice textual discussion into a passive, ad-ridden video feed are illiterates and boomers.]

  • There are more white non-homeowners in the US than the entire US black population and wealthy black people have no problem owning homes. The biggest correlation is wealth.

The wealthy have solidarity in their wealth while us poors find reasons to divide ourselves, be it race, religion, sexuality, or level of relative poorness. Imagine the power we’d have to fi change this country if we were allies instead.

  • Which all comes from the temporary and restrictive nature of the visa. They’re tied to a specific employer and must leave the country if their employment with that company ends (or set up another visa with another company in a very short time).

If these people represent deficiencies in our country’s skill set, then we should be welcoming them with open arms not locking them into an exploitative indentured servitude.

Of course, removing the strong tie to a specific sponsoring employer would let them leave the company for more competitive pay and work environment, which makes the whole thing less appealing to companies. It’s also at odds with the idea of the visa serving to bring in extraordinary talent not available in the country. Needing extraordinary talent and skimping on pay don’t exactly go hand in hand.

  • It’s like the literal progression of the poem and people still act surprised.

  • Anybody care to sum this up for people who can’t watch videos?

  • Dude, I’m agreeing with you. Getting hung up on past wrongs that one group’s parents did to another group’s parents is totally more important than mending rifts in our society and working together for a better future for ourselves and our children. After all, it’s totally the other group’s fault anyway.

  • Let’s make sure to undermine any growing solidarity by taking shots at each other over race/culture war BS at every opportunity. It’d be a shame if we were all on the same side.
