  • I think you're mistaking "conservatives and centrists" for "American government"

  • Truly a brand new sentence

  • Looked like it had just come back from the ethereal plane, its eyes were so wide

Well, yeah. If I got chased down and caught by a predator 4 times my size, I'd be a little wide-eyed, too.

  • Ok, here we go...

I'm going down, down, stung a frog like a clown

    Sugar, I'm going down stinging

  • I don't know; my wrestling coach used to say "you're never useless; you can always bad a bad example." So, personally I think putting his charred corpse on display could serve as an effective deterrent on oligarchs that are considering meddling in politics, especially if Musk was loaded into the doomed capsule against his will by a coalition of the proletariat.

Note: I am not advocating for violence. I'm just saying that hypothetically, if Musk was executed by low earth reentry, others might think twice about trying to buy government influence.

  • His handlers are just using it as a distraction from the class war. Trump is too dumb and fried to think with that level of intention.

  • You can tell that this wasn't written by a parent. Parents know that the small child is already covered in jam, despite there being no jam at the BBQ

  • Fria Liga (aka Free League) has lots of niche tabletop games, although iirc, they focus much more on the RPG side than the wargaming side.

There's lots of good stuff in the UK that I've found by browsing Kickstarter and small independent game shops online. I don't what you're into specifically, but there are lots of grimdark Mörk Borg inspired stuff out there right now that use system-agnostic minis for wargaming. Forbidden Psalm is one I've been pretty into for a bit, and I think they're out of the UK.

Disclaimer: I have no idea what the gaming scene is like for a lot of these; I just have a bad habit of collecting indie games I'll likely never play

  • And Data's got that devilish flow, Worf with the Bat'leth, no halo

  • Keep in mind, these are almost certain to be the same people who complain about how political everything is these days. What they mean is that they don't want to see leftist/progressive memes, but they're fine shifting the Overton widow to the right.

  • Depends on how steep the hill is and how precise you need to be with your position. Parallel parking in San Francisco almost requires the handbrake.

  • I live in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and regularly drove my standard transmission in San Francisco (one of the hilliest cities in North America), and used my hand brake all the time to maintain my position while I engaged the transmission. I'm not really sure what you're on about...

  • Joy as an Act of Resistance is a fantastic album from IDLES. Never Fight a Man with a Perm is one of my favorite songs about kicking Nazis (well, specifically alt-right toxic manfluencers) in the face, and Danny Nedelko restores my faith in humanity and reminds me why we fight fascists.

  • I don't know; during the Bush Jr. Era, I would have agreed with you, but I think the powers that be have figured out that religion is more useful for creating wedge issues than actually governing.

If the goal is simply controlling the population, then oligarch-controlled media and social media seems to be perfectly adequate with just a little bit of religion to give the conservatives bad-faith plausible deniability when it comes to the racism, misogyny, and homophobia (both the politicians and the voters).

  • It also seems pretty likely that Jerome was "Gamby," the known double-amputee from across the bay, as described at the end of the article

  • "Would you fuck me? I'd fuck me"

  • "Why should I change my name? He's the one that sucks."

    ~Michael Bolton, probably

  • seconded

  • I thought The Raconteurs were ok, but the Dead Weather really got my attention.
