  • That's great to hear. I would probably use it for checking on my server, watching some videos and some basic work tasks. Sounds like it would work fine enough for that. Thanks for the info!

  • I guess I just picture a phone powering a "PC like" station struggling and lagging. That's probably an outdated concern considering things like raspberry pi's run just fine

  • That's neat lop. How was it's functionality?

  • That is interesting, thanks for pointing it out

  • That's a fair point. I hope with more of these coming on the market there might end up being an open-source or just Linux phone standard so mobile OS's operate more akin to desktops than they do right now with all the tuning to specific hardware.

  • Yeah with the right specs, and assuming I could use a usb-c dock with the phone like a computer with OK specs, I'd put more money into that so I don't really need a laptop tbh. Upgradeability makes that even better

  • I really want a Linux phone that isn't neutered, but I also don't want it to be $2k+ Lol. If the librem 5 is anything to go by (at $800 with pretty outdated specs) I'm bracing for 2k

  • Same! I ordered one is the previews, but will definitely get others if they add those

  • It looks like he's no longer pretending he isn't the villain in the story.

  • Same or even if it makes sense (which honestly I think it absolutely does) at least have an option maybe after the preview edition to have one with a better speaker built in for more cost or something. Keep one as is if you only need the voice assistant, but one one be $20-40 more or something if you plan on using it for music too

  • Tagging in on this too, I'm wondering what speaker people are combining this with for music streaming. I've heard on the early reviews that the speaker is fine for assisting, but not great for music

  • My main PC only stays on for a couple days at a time (on sleep/hibernate when not in use) only because I'm generally too lazy to shut all programs down. I reboot on updates though, which is every couple days.

  • That's kind of true, if you mean they're doing similar things only in reverse?

  • As usual, the people vehemently against including the Bible in the ban haven't actually read it

  • I use it on my work laptop and recently put it on my Mom's computer (basically a browser machine anyway) as well. So far so good on both. The only thing my mom doesn't like is that the file explorer is called dolphin, she said it's confusing. I plan on using a menu editor to change the name, then all is well.

  • The older I get the truer that gets

  • I'm refinishing an old bench my wife made when she was younger with a UV blocking epoxy so it can sit outside, then I need to actually start an L desk for my tiny office. I've been putting that off for over a year and have been working on a temp desk lol

  • Ah nice, good find. I tried a few things and those didn't work. Though to note, the option I found to work changes apps other than the default system apps too

  • Right, for the color, I have a neon background and the icons stay black and white. There's no option to manually change them as far as I know. I tried changing them before I commented the first time. There might be a way to force it somehow, but that's outside of my interest level lol
