  • It's easier to read the subtext and make connections, catch Easter eggs, etc. Although sometimes your brain is just making shit up.

I got super stoned before I watched RoboCop 2 a few months ago, which I hadn't seen before. Holy shit the satire is deeply baked into every scene. I was laughing more than I have in years.

  • It's art. I love the movie. I appreciate the aesthetics, the cinematography, and the practical effects.

  • I mean, is anything Harry Potter considered fine art? That's what the meme meant by cinema

  • This is one of the tactics the pigs have used for a long time. Give conflicting orders so no matter what they can use violence.

There is a video of the murder of Daniel Shaver that shows this clearly. I really don't recommend watching it.

  • During his first term, he did plenty that he supposedly can't do. Over the past year, he's done even more that he supposedly can't do. I guarantee you he will try to suspend voting in 2028, possibly even this year.

He's already openly telling Republican states to redistrict, without even some bullshit excuse. He's directly saying redistrict so we don't lose control of Congress.

  • Wow what an article.

I haven't seen Rubio talk very much, but if I met someone acting like that I would be certain they were on coke or speed. The confidence makes me think cocaine though.

  • Anything in particular you recommend?

  • We're cooked

  • The ocean? What ocean?

  • Sorry if I'm missing something, but aren't everyone's aunts and uncles (other than those by marriage) the biological children of their grandparents?

  • Yep. And so many white people here claim native ancestry. "I'm 1/16th Cherokee" they'll say. Usually it is Cherokee because that's the group their parents or grandparents had heard of and told them. I think it comes from trying to absolve the guilty feelings of what the settlers did to the natives.

The genealogy conversations are just tiring and predictable.

  • It is what it is

  • I graduated in 2002 in a class of 600. We were around 800 in 10th grade, which was the start of high school at the time.

  • If college wasn't such a scam I'd agree with you.

  • There's a TV ad recently for a budgeting personal data vacuum app that has fake street interviews. One of the things the actor says is she can't bring herself to call to cancel things so the app does it for her.

I've heard people online and in person say they can't handle making phone calls but the idea that it's so common it's in an ad like it's normal is crazy.

  • I'm down for Panthers, just without segregation.

  • To be fair, many of the "founding fathers" of the USA were deists rather than christians. Rapist slavemaster Thomas Jefferson even made his own version of the Bible with the supernatural stuff removed.

  • I never heard that particular nonsense. What's the point of someone saying that?
