  • No, but each classroom had a PA System for announcements and whatnot. It was a two-way system, the teacher could use it to page the office if needed.

This was in Ontario during the 90's.

  • I actually started a Cosmere community but nobody ever used it

  • I would kill for a lemmy alternative to /r/AskHistorians, but it requires a very dedicated moderation team, and I don't know that the user base here is large enough to support it.

  • We're happy to have ya folks. We know you're the good ones.

  • Modern games are far too large to fit onto CDs and DVDs. The Witcher 3 was released on DVD and there were over 10 DVDs in the case.

On Blu-Ray you have a better chance, but that's a lot more expensive.

If you stick to smaller games you can make it work, and just write a simple batch/bash script to auto-launch the installer.

There's also a good chance those old Discs you have laying around won't actually work anymore. Discs rot even in an un-burned state.

  • Steam's backup option is still there, and it can break the game files up into CD or DVD sized chunks for this exact purpose.

You do need to have Steam installed for the discs to work later.

  • Has anyone tried running it via Proton? I see they've said it "isn't supported" but that's not how Proton works. I haven't gotten into the beta so I can't test myself.

  • I think my brain broke trying to parse the title of this post.

  • Americans can still apply for refugee status. That agreement makes it so if you come to the US and Canada as a refugee from a third country, you can only apply for status in the first country you entered.

US Citizens are still eligible for refugee status, assuming they meet the other criteria.

If you're in the LGBTQI+ Community and need refugee status here, check the link below; https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/refugees/about-refugee-system/2slgbtqi-plus.html

You'll also find support with the UNHCR (United Nations High Commission for Refugees) and the Rainbow Railroad.

  • Hello Boys, I'm Baaaaaack!

  • “Otherwise, we are opening ourselves up to cronyism, corruption and economic inefficiency,” Hsu said. “We've seen them time and time again not being able to resist the urge of helping insiders, so I am wary to trust the government if, and when, they say that no influence will occur.”

This is incredibly rich coming from the Ford Government.

  • Both, sorta.

Art is a form of communication. It is up to the author/artist to ensure the message they want to convey is both clear and understood to their target audience.

However, no matter how hard you try there will always be some who don't interpret it as intended. These typically fall outside of the target audience, but their interpretation is still valid.

If the target audience still misinterprets, their interpretation is valid, but the artist did a poor job communicating their intention. This does not necessarily mean the art is bad though.

  • From what I can see that instance is just filled with people making crossposts from other instances.

  • How did GSP make a major difference to Canada exactly? That's my point. If you think I'm just shitting on him you're making a lot of assumptions based on the very short and concise post I made. Nothing there is shitting on him.

  • I just picked up FF7 Rebirth and Riders Republic during the sale. I've been enjoying them quite a bit. Otherwise my Deck is mostly used to play Dead Cells and PokeMMO.

  • I will never understand why we as a society admire athletes so much. GSP is a good guy, but worthy of the OOC? Maybe, but if it's based purely on his career in the UFC I think that's ridiculous.

  • My god you're right, X on its own does work.

I've been using the Steam button this whole time since that's the hotkey shown in gaming mode.

  • As a chef of ~20 years, I completely understand and approve.

  • Ah yes, being in College and meeting with my garlic dealer was always such a highlight.
