  • If you need DaVinci Resolve, just know that when you switch to Linux, you will lose the ability to read and render mp4 files. You will need to buy the full version to be able to do this on Linux.

I use my desktop primarily for video editing, 3D modeling, and a bit of gaming, and it's been running Pop!_OS since December with absolutely zero issues. The only annoyance has been the mp4 file thing in DaVinci.

  • Maybe he wanted something that could actually run?

  • Have they added podcast support to Tidal yet?

  • "Manipulators are not the problem, the people who are manipulated are"

  • I just tried to delete my inactive NordVPN account from a European IP (not through a VPN, I actually live there). Spent 10 minutes searching for a delete option without luck. The only way seems to be by submitting a form (which for some reason also requires "payment info"). Sketchy as fuck.

  • I studied at the Technical University of Denmark and there was so much sexism towards the women there. I was oblivious to it the first year, and then got into a friend group of primarily women. It was mind-blowing hearing their stories, and of the way that university management and leaders shut them down every time they formally brought up the issue. There was (and still is) serious cover-ups of multiple rape cases.

Don't think it's not happening just because you don't hear about it. People in power are actively trying to keep this quiet, and it's working.

  • Before leaving Reddit, I frequently saw what was clearly LLM bots having "conversations" in the comments. Shit's just starting to get weird.

  • And still using micro-HDMI for some godforsaken reason

  • Are there any historical examples of a technology as valuable as LLMs being effectively shut down?

  • Employees that get fired over dumb-ass CEO decisions should be able to sue the crap out of the company. Let's make it easier to kill the companies that do this shit.

  • MATLAB is such a scam. Luckily a growing amount of universities are starting to realise it.

  • 80% of microplastics in the oceans are from car wheels. Electric cars are only slightly better for the environment than ICEs, but no personal vehicle will ever be sustainable. We need to upgrade public transportation to handle our transportational needs, and we need this upgrade process to start years ago.

  • Before they changed to HBO max, it was the only streaming service worth paying for. Once they started removing their own god damn shows, it was back to the bay.

  • I work with teenagers with autism. I have tried so hard to understand Undertale, because they all love it so so much. I even used to stream me playing it so my students could tag along. I want to get it, but I just don't.

If anyone can explain me the appeal (better than my students did) I would appreciate it greatly.

  • Still motherfucking micro-HDMI, god damn it! I hate my RPi 4 and end up using my 3 more because of it. I'd much rather have a single HDMI (or DisplayPort) output, instead of two micro-HDMI.

  • Software Engineering. Most software is basically just houses of cards, developed quickly and not maintained properly (to save money ofc). We will see some serious software collapses within our lifetime.
