Costco was very clear with the tariffs that they would eat the cost and just sue because they felt it was illegal. Low and behold, it was illegal, and they are getting a refund after not raising costs like everyone else. And their customers loved them for it.

This is actually their entire buisness model as well. They don’t really make much money from their products. They make almost 100% profit from their memberships. If I remember right, over 2/3 of their total profit comes from membership revenue. So if they piss people off and make them cancel their membership, that would really fuck them over.

Me and some of my siblings loved it growing up, while my mom and the other siblings hated it (big family). Many years later when talking about it we found out it was a 60/40 split in the family for not having/having the cilantro=soap gene.

To be fair, solid state batteries went from being a pipe dream, to being only possible in perfect laboratory settings, to the current state of very real and possible -just expensive. And it has done all of this in about a decade. Just give it time.

This is actually a really common thing for banks to do for fraud security. It works better than just freezing the account because if someone is using a stolen identity they can still go in person and fake their way around a frozen account. But if the security team deducts $100 billion dollars, then you can’t take anything out and it essentially warns anyone who works in banking who isn’t directly in your bank (3rd party bank) about what is happening to the account.

The dot-com boom was both something that changed the world forever as-well-as a bubble. AI isn’t going away and we are only seeing it in its mainstream/commercialization infancy. While it is currently seen as a bubble, over-hyped, and currently over-valued -when the bubble pops it will only reorganize into a market efficient model, not go away. Just like the dot-com bubble and the internet.
