Is there some sort of public blacklist of known youtube channels made with AI?

It will still show the channel in search results, which really sucks if they're a prominent channel in a specific field.

Used products in Japan are generally stupidly cheap. Something about the culture makes it so that people generally look at old devices as worthless and non-new devices are occasionally shunned.

I get it, but also the internet sucks these days and it's hard to make money on advertising alone. I can't blame a reputable journal for asking for money to see the articles they publish, and since I tolerate all sorts of patreon business models, I have to be realistic in thinking that this is going to be the only path forward for real journalism. It's a shame, but it just seems to have worked out this way.

Amazing how the party of "freedom" chooses to ignore the nazi obsession of the shooter and instead focus on the gender identity of the shooter. How very "woke" of them.

However, let's be real here, they just want to make us all mad about this. They wouldn't go through with this as they don't really have the means to do it on a federal level. This is the issue with governance by trolling; It's pretty weak once you realize most of it is dog and pony show nonsense.

Regardless, let's all stand along the transgender community and call this shit out as it is: News manipulation to make a minority feel further unwelcome and create fear mongering around the misunderstood.

Excluding the fact that banning something only serve to make a less safe black market thrive be it drug, liquor, sex or gambling

They probably want the black market for gender affirming hormone therapy to be a dependency, as that means they'll be in control of the goods and prices. They also have a history of trying to extort the transgender community to force them into work as sex workers, see Epstein emails for context on this.

A better browsing experience is definitely a nice idea though. I wonder if we couldn't just improve the UI/UX of the actual peertube web interface though so that all instances benefitted from this work? (For example, allow setting up aggregate indexers on the instance settings (links to json repos) so that channels that exist on other unknown instances can be found quicker.)

I think an interesting extra layer to the question would be "with a chance that the button would no longer work after use" which I think would be useful context. It would help better understand where you might exist along a gender spectrum, or how comfortable you are with the idea of transition in general, or how much you resonate with the actuality of being the other gender.

Sort of? But I think it's still a good idea worth exploring -- sort of.

I'm not really sure how posting comments there would work, but if you could essentially "hack" reddit as part of the lemmy-verse, it basically would mean that lemmy would be the better service at that point.

I'm not sure how technically viable it would be though.

AI has basically created the perfect alibi machine for liars and frauds. Any bad photographs? Just say it's AI. If there aren't any direct witnesses, it will work every time sadly.

I can only hope the bubble pops soon so that most people can no longer afford to do free AI slop, which will change the discussion pretty radically (since it will increase scrutiny toward AI companies to provide paper trails for any image it generates)

Upscaling can be ok but I honestly hate the way upscaled content looks. Faces end up looking mushy and motion is often awful (since some nerds think the frame rate needs to be interpolated, which makes it look awful.) So I still watch my DVD SD rip which is good enough for me.

I won't poo poo the idea of watching it upscaled if that's what you want, but I'd stress that you should keep good notes on your files (via filename) so that you know what modifications have been made. This is only because metadata of video files are too lacking in this new era where videos are often modified, and it's becoming really difficult to fine the original authentic files for anything these days. Assuming you care about that sort of thing.

Tri gun: Original or stampede?

Between those two options, I'd go with the original. Know full well that the pacing of the original show is a little all over the place, ranging from way too slow to stupidly fast on a whim. However, the writing is better than the new show (imo), the direction is awesome and ultimately the journey of the story is complete and concise. You'll definitely feel like you want more by the end, which is how you want a show to be.

Stampede is new, but it suffers from some poor pacing decisions and bad writing. It takes the manga and condences the plot points majorly while adding some of their own. It's not terrible, but I'd argue the characters feel a bit like paper standee versions of themselves due to how little development they've given the characters and how quickly they went through critical story beats.

So I'd watch the original and then read the manga. Once you read the manga, you'll know what to expect from the characters and then the writing issues of stampede become a bit less of a problem (though still annoying imo)

4 episodes in, so far I think it's ok but definitely not my favorite take on the series.

I'm enjoying it for what it is, but I'm not gonna lie that I think the animation and direction of this show isn't what I want exactly. Hell, I don't know if it's just my imagination but I think it might be slightly worse looking than the first season (Trigun Stampede)
