  • Checking OCD. I keep checking whether things such as lights, doors are closed or the water tab, oven/ furnace are turned off. At some point it took 1-1.5 hours off my time before being able to go to bed and even then it occupied my mind. Went so far to make photo's and video's as 'evidence' but eventually that did not do the trick either.

    • That I indeed have OCD.
    • That I indeed have a form of social anxiety/ agoraphobia.
    • That some things from the past still worries me despite thinking it would not.
    • I quickly get into negative thoughts and learnt how to slowly but steadily change that.
    • That I was afraid of admitting that certain things from the past were indeed someone else’s fault and not my own (I never wanted to be the kind of person that point fingers to others).

And a couple of other things but these were the main ones.

  • Not sure how to feel about all of this. I loved the first Division game, the winter atmosphere and snow was amazing.

But then Division 2 happened and the charm just fell off for me. Not to mention the continued crashing issues on PC are horrendous. Regret purchasing the Division 2 on PC.

Now hearing they are developing a third Division making me hope for another winter style but worried about the crash issues on PC and them not even fixing the crash issues in the first place.

Now them announcing layoffs isn’t another good development.

  • Ain't got those amazing Nintendo games though. Glhf finding a Mario Cart replacement that is actually as good.

This is not entirely true. Depending on the stance of the person regarding piracy. You can definitely play Mario Kart on the Steam Deck. Emulations for PS1 PS2, Switch 1 exist (there are more but these I know on the top of my head).

The Steam Deck can play nearly all Switch 1 titles through emulation. Yes, developers were taken down but the emulators do still work perfectly fine (I’m saying this as Steam Deck owner and using Emulators myself).

EDIT; noticed we are in the same instance. Now I’m curious whether you were serious or it was sarcasm…

  • This article was posted 20 November 2018

I was already wondering why it was still available on the App Store for me. Curious as to why this was posted now, lol.

  • Isn’t this already done with Mario game(s)? I think it was Super Mario Deluxe, where if you die enough times, Luigi shows up and will be doing the entire level for you including the ‘boss’ fight.

  • I recommend to either;

    • Use RSS feed to view Reddit posts.
    • Curate it very tightly if you want to stay on Reddit.
    • Do not post or comment a lot (if at all).
    • Post your question/ discussion on Lemmy.

Personally, I have noticed a lot of hostility on Reddit, a lot more than it was before. Bots and people just post bait content and comments to stir up anger of people.

Plus Moderators on Reddit are just power tripping people. They feel high and mighty because of the volunteered position they have. It’s their way of coping with the fact they have to deal with unnecessary problems and conflicts for free.

I curated the Reddit feed on RSS but had to already delete 4-5 subreddits from the RSS feed due to the continuous bait posts.

  • My fellow Lemmy user, I can’t believe that Trump has been elected twice and that MAGA supporters blindly follow without any educated decision.

I can’t believe all the shit Trump is doing and that there’s almost no actions by other countries against it. For example, the bombing and kidnapping of Maduro. I can’t believe other countries are not shouting out loud about the situation. Maduro is not a saint but meddling with someone’s else country because “I can” and because “oil” is insanity.

I can’t believe truly, cannot believe that a lot of Americans have voted for Trump and thought it do be a good idea. The more crazier is that a state (Israel) seems to be more value able and worth in Trumps eyes (and his party) than America itself. Wasn’t their whole party slogan “America first”?

  • As a guy who’s half European and half Arabian, no I don’t feel comfortable expressing emotions or feelings. Each time I have done that, I get shit for it back.

“Man up”, “that’s just life” and “I know you’ll push through it”. Is what I hear. They rather have me be aggressive than to be emotional more often than not. While I’m trying to get rid of my anger issues.

So instead of expressing emotions, I just put it all in a diary. Never thought I’d be using one but it truly helps.

  • I'm still living with parents due to circumstances (houses are immensely expensive, one of them have a lot of health issues and thus want to help out etc). Anyway, when I was a teenager my father would definitely go through my stuff in my room. He's unfortunately very controlling.

Once I went on a trip with a school I was in back then, he would check and try to control what I do with the money I had (and used). It is that my mother messaged me and told me to better use cash instead of the bank (I listened to her). Good thing she told me because if not, there would be a huge fight (yes, actual fact because he's agressive) due to the fact I used to smoke back then (I quit for years already thankfully). Privacy does not exist in my father's dictonary. Though nowadays, it looks as if he does not care (but you know, appearances can be deceiving).

  • I would just suggest using Massgrave and never pay a dime to Microsoft.

  • I would say for myself;

    • Real-Debrid (RD).
    • VPN (if RD isn’t enough).
    • DayOne Diary.
  • Opinion down voting brings useless negativity to Lemmy.

My own experience on Lemmy is that this has been happening more and more. It was not like that when the first Reddit migration happened. However, a year later and that kind of toxicity has started to arise.

It’s one of the reasons why I disabled the visibility of the votes. It also can manipulate on how someone thinks*.

Personally, besides the more technology knowledge on Lemmy.. I find that Lemmy slowly but steadily adopts more and more Reddit behaviors in terms of user behavior.

I'm on an instance that does not support down votes. That means, if one disagrees, they need to use their brain and write a comment.

Honestly that sounds great. It means people usually have to actually write why they don’t agree.

EDIT; something went wrong with formatting and copied text twice. Edited it to get it correct again.

  • I have always done that to people who are unfriendly towards me. It also gives them a notice that I won’t be replying to their unfriendly behavior.

Never used Twitter/X so I have no idea how it is on there.

Though, I wonder why do I need to explain my reason for announcing to block someone but someone else being unfriendly or having a toxic behavior seems to be okay and is not questioned. What other social media have you used in the past?

  • I assumed that moderators just ban people they do not like or at least remove comments. Blocking people that you do not like is helpful. Keeps your feed and comments section clean and brings less unfriendly behavior. I'm a huge fan of Lemmy's blocking, it does not prevent the blocked person to comment but it does help the blocker to prevent seeing anything from the blocked person. Brings peace to both, one can simply comment and the other will not see it.

  • I do not know, you tell me? Anyway, it seems my particular comment got some people agitated. Did not expect to see people getting agitated over a single random comment and question.

  • They affect visibility. Exactly.

    Skeptic away, friend.

Glad Lemmy allows infinite blocking users. So welcome to the blocklist, don't want to see unfriendly and unnecessary behavior from new accounts.

  • Why do upvotes and downvotes matter? Is this a real question?

Yes, it is. Because on Lemmy, the down and upvote does not restrict your account (like how Reddit does it). From my understanding the upvote and downvote on Lemmy is more “upvote, so more users see it and downvote see it gets seen less”.

Which means if one person is trolling it and downvote but majority of users are upvoting it, it doesn’t matter much.

Reddit became the karma farming shithole it is because of their engagement algorithms.

That’s one of the many reasons.

Also, you don’t sound very friendly and since your account is about 5 days old. I’m very skeptical of your comment and behavior.

  • I don't understand this post at all. Why does it matter what someone upvotes or downvotes? The upvote/downvote means literally nothing at all. Personally, even removed the ability to see the upvote/downvote thing on Lemmy with Mlem.

People place way to much sentiment on the whole up and downvote. That's why Reddit just became a karmafarming place instead of actual (good) written conversation. Lets not do that with Lemmy. Also, this post could turn out quite bad and gets a unnecessary witch hunt started.
