trump would not be better but dems have made it clear that they dont really take the environment seriously. They say its a crisis and we have to take action but then they open up more fracking and give more money to military contractors. This doesnt make me a trump voter but it does make me tune them out when they make appeals about climate because I know the dems will still sell the climate down the river in favor of big corporate lobbies when in power. That kind of double talk makes people give up on parties and stop caring.
It's frustrating to have to support a party that doesn't understand how to run a popular campaign. This isn't the first time I've seen this. The dems will always kowtow to big donors instead of proposing policy that will make average people's lives better
The perspective that your just outlined lost this election. Do you want to beat fascism? If so you have to gain the interest of people who didn't come out in this election. If the stakes are really that high are you gonna lecture people or appeal to them?
Do you give up because people aren't reasonable? Or do you find a way to appeal to them despite that?
If you pick giving up then you're letting fascism win
Most people aren't glued to politics. It's the job of the campaign to get people's attention and give them a reason to vote. They clearly failed at that because they lost. You can blame human nature but a good campaign takes human nature into account and this campaign was not a good one.
Do you want to win or do you just want to blame the people? If you want to win you have to find a way to motivate them whether they are being reasonable or not
Thanks to the campaign and candidates that were so bad they failed to motivate enough voters. Most people aren't glued to politics and it's the parties job to go to where those people are and get them interested. Harris, Biden, and the dems failed horribly at doing that
The push will be harder now because dems and libs will suddenly realize it's an atrocity the instant trump gets in office. They'll flip from telling pro Palestine people to shut up to yelling the same things we've been yelling for a year but at trump because the person in power finally won't be on their team so they finally will allow for criticism of the president.
In this case if you pick just the burning building then the group keeping you in that building are saying "we can't let you out of there but you better support us or the guys with the molotovs will show up"
I understand that logically you'd pick option A but would you have enthusiastic support for the people keeping you trapped in the building?
Candidates have to get people motivated to vote and "we won't do better but the other guy will do worse" is not motivating enough. We saw how that plays out yesterday
Palestinians were very much already in danger. Both sides in america are so tied to Israel that biden refused to stand up to bibi even while he was openly campaigning for trump
When you run to the right, and the people who like right-wing policies already have a party giving them the policies they want, they're not gonna switch parties, and you're just going to alienate the parts of your base/coalition that are affected by those policies.
Campaigning primarily on being the lesser evil and maintaining status quo failed, you can tell people 1 choice is slightly better all you want but on election day we found out that you can't win that way. If the dem politicians actually want to win they'll try a different strategy next time
Did you read the part of my comment where I said I'm NOT a trump voter and that he is NOT better
