Viruses and prions fall under the umbrella of germs/pathogens. They did not disprove germ theory. They still align with the idea that pathogens cause diseases. That’s still true.

Yeah, my team actually has a mix of great, good, and replacement level PMs. The bad ones either get let go or moved elsewhere. It helps that we tend to draw them from the roles that would be on projects they’d manage and seem to compensate them well enough that we retain all the good ones.

If an org can’t find good PMs, the org needs to create them and pay them enough that they stick in the role. It’s not easy, but it’s not rocket science.

I don’t think there is conclusive evidence right now. But what I have heard hypothesized is that books require engaging your mind over a longer period of time on the same narrative thread broken up over numerous sittings. So, you improve your ability for complex, long-term cognition, since you have to commit to memory and recall details about that specific story, not just general ideas related to it.

I think it would also be problematic to exclusively read books personally. Not everything worth reading makes sense in a long format. Technical documentation is also part of my day-to-day.

The fragmenting of teams needs more attention. My group uses a follow the sun model that has our team split up across at least seven countries, plus a decent chunk are always contracted through a vendor. Add in remote workers, and it’s very difficult to see an effective way to organize.
