  • This mentality is insane to me. But it explains so much about right vs left.

Like are you a knight of the lemme round table or something. What path has one taken to get to the point that you remove your own upvote on your own post so that is dealt with fairly?

I can't with you people. It is claustrophobic watching every MAGA individual aggressively take every advantage and turn even their biggest fuck ups into victories. Meanwhile in left leaning spaces people are making sure they take the opportunity to seize every defeat from the clutches of victory

  • This should be the motto for leftist every where. It so on brand

  • How could it not be growing. The left abandoned any social media spaces. They have left every high profile leftist high and dry letting the right dominate the conversation. Nobody is out there spreading and supporting the left. For some reason thé biggest effort on the left is organizing bigger and bigger protests but then going home after their most vocal and active leaders are killed or arrested.

  • I think people have given up on the left overall but the right wing machine is so aggressive and entrenched into everything that we are casting votes to liberals to hang on

  • 100% and he was just the person that represented a much bigger effort by the government to reign the internet and data and information under their control.

  • Yea I'm the same. I don't understand how people think this is effective over other methods. There are just so many more options and awareness for spreading a message now. Protesting this way was born out of a time when we didn't even have telephones. Information was entirely different. Plus with authoritarians controlling narratives, they can really control a lot of public opinion so methods need to be implemented to counter that. Just an example, I see people projecting images within cities. That's amazing, why not organize that. Every city, projections of police executing Alex and abusing their authority. They'll take one down but have 20 more at the ready to project it again. If we're getting hundreds of millions in the streets, there's got to be something else we can do than just stand around for a few hours.

  • No

  • Yea and I know logically that makes sense. But also it's fucked that we had this a decade ago. It was great. How we lost it so, I'm not sure. Moderation kind of evolved and stole our right to police communities for us. Now it's used on major platforms to push them all to the right and leftist Got fucked by mods

  • Not really. This is as basic as governments get. She says this for her base and people but also is doing what America wants behind the scene. Come on guys. Is this your first government or what?

  • Got it. What I'm looking for is something like we had in the past. Place where you can post videos, clips or have discussions on current events. Mods seem very different in the past 5 years. Everything is extremely boxed in. For example if I saw a video of Jon Stewart that was giving a great speech, where could I post that here on lemme? I've been in this situation a few times and it looks like I could maybe find a jon Stewart community with 6 people but there isn't really a community to post the random stuff we come across and it's killing a lot of momentum in my mind to get leftist communities up and going.

One community might be strictly clips only and only clips that are about a narrow subject. Another community is strictly headlines online and about a narrow subject. Another community are meme focused but memes with only skeletons in it. But then there's a community for meme but without skeletons. If you post a skeleton meme, banned. Like this moderation and community-based policing i think seemed like a nice idea to keep it orderly, but i feel we're losing real community and I'm searching for places that get it.

  • Haha my man. Make em work for it

  • Mods there remove videos they don't like. I had one up of a suspected agent provocateur burning a flag at a protest and then trying to disappear but the protestors corner him. It got a lot of attention and mods randomly removed it saying fuck the American flag

  • I feel like this was something that needed to be stopped decades ago but now it's just not possible to do this. You can't wait until it's this big then start thinking how to change it

  • Player haters club

  • It is 1000 times easier to get a message out online then in person but we still dress in furry suits and go stand outside buildings.

  • Right, this doesn't get enough attention. Either weirdly or completely understandable. Especially since the Egyptian uprising I think scared a lot of governments.

  • You just showed that you're no better than a MAGA.
