  • The Canadian government seems to be doing nothing about it, and it's only going to get worse. Anyone who's lived here can tell you how our provincial politics have completely gone to shit ever since Maga took hold.

They want to introduce a private police force (their own gestapo), and they've been undermining public healthcare and education while trying to force private solutions and their own agendas.

  • Lol of course that's a thing. Welp so much for my big brain ideas. As usual its already a thing haha

  • Hmm I get where you're coming from. It does seem concerning that they aren't organized as much as they should be.

I have felt similar to you in some ways. The fact that people didn't already have some kind of structure earlier on feels like a massive missed opportunity but I recognize that it's probably easier said than done to organize a whole independent movement across a country. I agree it might very well end up that way.

I guess ...I always like to prep for the worst and hope for the best. But don't lose hope. I think there's always time to turn things around.

  • That's an interesting way of looking at it that I suppose I have thought of but haven't really considered it in depth. I suppose my mentality has been "work within the accepted framework because trying to convince people of anything else feels impossible."

I'm likely ignorant to a lot of this, however.

I wouldn't be opposed to a change like that though. As long as conditions improve for everyone and it's peaceful, I dont think i care what kind of system is put in place as long as everyone is treated properly. But now that I think about it more I can kinda get where you're coming from. I am curious if it would work at scale, and in the meantime, what we could do about things currently. It feels like that would be a polar opposite of capitalism entirely.

Anyways, sorry, im rambling with my thoughts here.

  • I just hope that the outcome is positive. Hopefully, something can break the cycle

  • Okay at first I was wondering "who the hell would want to do this?" But then I thought maybe its like...if you need a TV for an event? Being able to rent out a large TV might be helpful? But like thats so absolutely niche.

But its the only way I could ever see it make sense. If you needed a very large flat screen only for a few days or something you could rent it instead of paying a few thousand.

  • I am refreshed seeing these comments. I grumbled lightly about Carney and was met with "hey at least its better than nothing!" from my family.

I think he's obviously better than PP head, but the liberals are still just in it for themselves and corporations. Otherwise, we would have had voter reform. Hell the NDP had to push for the dental care program. If it wasnt for the NDP I question if we would get anything.

  • I've been wondering for a while what will happen. If the USA doesn't fully reform government, nothing will change, and this exact situation will repeat one day. They can't just reinstate democrats and republicans that are focused on corporations and their own pockets. This really should be a fundamental rebirth of America once they remove the nazi threat.

  • A creator I follow on youtube has stated that their views have fallen off completely on tiktok. Some fellow creators have gotten strikes against their accounts, and one had their account deleted.

Seems like the US government is just purging anything they feel contradicts their lies

  • I can't imagine all Americans would be ok with invading Canada. They would meet resistance within and from Canadians. I find it hard to imagine how it would go, but it wouldnt be smooth

  • Microslop needs to figure their shit out. I think 11 has been worse than any previous "bad" windows version. I've never had such an unreliable experience with an OS before.

I would swap, but I'm forced/still have reason to use it for various programs/work.

  • I think he's saying nice words, but I'll believe them when I see actions. I should preface this with, I understand running a country is like sailing a massive ship. It takes time to correct course. Additionally, it would be great if they worked with the NDP and seemed like they cared more lol.

Canada keeps tip toeing around the whole Palestinian genocide. I assume because it's largely american backed, but if what he says is true, then I would like to see them speak up more. They talk about Greenland and Ukraine but it would be nice for them to...be equal.

Additionally in terms of the economy, we might be largely well educated but many of the people I know have degrees, diplomas and even masters and have had a hell of a time finding worthwhile work (if any) for the past 6 years. Some have had better luck than others, but like...damn it doesn't seem like we're prospering here. Cost of living has skyrocketed. My outlook for the future isn't looking great. I largely have no idea if I'll be living comfortably in a decade or be worse off. It's difficult if not impossible to plan for a future.

  • Please just give:

Cars with buttons and dials. No touch screens other than maybe a GPS exclusive screen.

Cars that can be fixed relatively easily.

Safety(Cars aren't really safe, but its what we have to deal with so...make them smaller with clear lines of sight, etc).

These are my dreams, I guess. I doubt you can honestly get anything close to that in 2026. Also as if I would be able to afford anything new when cost of living has skyrocketed lol.

  • Yeah, it's not great. I feel terrible for the guy because he lives on his own and has a mortgage to pay. I just hope he can get back on his feet sooner rather than later.

  • My job just let us know that they are going to invest about $170,000 into AI subscriptions per year. A few days later, they fired an artist they had hired for over a decade. A chunk of us are pretty upset but the rest don't seem to care. They're too busy playing with Ai making it generate "funny" pictures.

  • If you want people to update, you have to push out tested solid updates. Otherwise, the risk outweighs any potential benefit. Watching the windows 11 updates has been so weird

  • I think the biggest thing is that people don't seem to understand how AI works. If they understood it's just predictive text and not like...actual intelligence, I think it would solve a lot of issues.

Part of this, though, is how AI companies keep pushing to personify their AI and keep making them sound better than they actually are. It makes people think its this magical thing

  • I think tears are okay to show. It's the actions after that define a leader. If she cries but then puts up a good fight and doesn't back down then I see no problem.

I understand that most people dont see it that way though. So maybe im just weird idk haha

  • Doing everything in my power to not burn out/get fired and keep trucking. Thank goodness for coffee. Hang in there everyone
