  • I would think that China will never sign it, because I think this would be swiftly weponized against China(as you've said) with claims of genocide in Xinjiang and human rights violations in Tibet and all the same old westen song and dance, so I feel they'll just run things their way, plus they don't need this PR right now I'd wager, I think they are moving well towards their goals without the need to expose themselves to this kind of attack. So overall I don't think they gain a lot doing it and stand to lose a bit, plus this PR you say is validation by the western powers, and I don't think China is too worried with that validation as it's much more worried with presenting themselves as an alternative to the western powers to the global south, so being more connected to them does them not too many favors

  • The recent post about Vietnam donating to Cuba, is the reverse Castrobucks

  • That's why they're trying to make data centers abroad, like at least here in Brazil, I know data centers are not exactly computing centers but I think it's somewhat possible to convert once it's properly set up

  • Yeah I think we are in agreement comrade, I just like to point out this things when I see a post on the subject because I've seen far too much people associate any attempt of improving the now (from the part of any socialist individual or organization) with a commitment with a inherently reformist agenda, so I like to leave the more expanded idea when I see a short communication about it, just to promote the broader vision a little

  • Yeah when we can but in the meantime if we can reform we should, never giving up on the teardown part. I think that the school sistem improvements would be helpful even before the revolution, and if the revolutionary left help that come by, we can even get some credit with the population as well, but I'm fully aware that those things are patching holes on a doomed structure, but still some wholes are worth patching, even if we are gonna replace the thing as a whole in the future

  • Easy there it's not correct to say it is nothing but a distraction, if you make it the focus of your project for sure, but however possible we should try to make the changes possible that would help the working class, but of course that does not mean to adhere to their program but it is important to look at what improvements can be achieved. But never celebrating these folks as heroes or celebrating as a magnificent win it is a small comfort but far from the cure, and can distract, but can bring about some degree of help, the important part is to know that however much help that is, it's always woefully insufficient. But help should never be discarded completely, even if ultimately in many cases we refuse the instances of incrementalism it's important to know that it comes with a cost, because much of the people who would benefit a little right now, cannot see the possibility of a revolution ever working, but they want some improvement, in such case being against incrementalism can have a very significant impact on gathering support of who we most need on our side.

  • This only exposes a shameful failure of our society to promote and offer access to scientific criteria to the general population. There is a very strong need to reform our eduction system to better prevent this kind of attack

  • It's worse than that, her son didn't customized shit, he just picked the default female avatar, it's nothing to do with trans nothing, game has male and female character, my son picked the female, that made him trans.

  • It's news if we do not suspect such a thing

  • It's not the dogs fault, they didn't have a say in the matter

  • The answer I arrived at after much thought and trial and error is kinda you don't. The framing of recruiting as I see it is not that effective, the way to do it is to be close to the masses, and help people, preferably in an organized fashion, with no strings attached, and along with the help you talk to people even some people with quite different views from yours and listen to them and have conversations, like about hobbies about their work about family stuff, establish a relationship of respect with people, once you get that they'll listen to you when you talk about why things are the way they are, and the idea is to give people the tools to judge their own reality, and if your organization is doing things well the natural consequence is that some people will join. But if you lead with the dump of information uprooting their worldview and often antagonizing the views of people who they respect or love, you will almost always be seen as a raving lunatic because for that person's life and social relations it's a lot easier to ignore you and keep their old views, so to change that you gotta be part of the person's life, be the friend of the people, operative word, FRIEND

Edit 1: and when I said to help the people I mean things like what VaqueroRed said about social movements or even what you say about material help, those are very good mechanisms

  • What does tailist mean?

  • I think this video is old lately he seems more reasonable in this subject, but not all his ideas are good indeed, but he is not all bad either, I really appreciate his audiobooks

  • Didn't know S4A was an ultra, I really like that he posts audio forms of a lot of texts, since I prefer audio form of them

  • NSFW

  • Don't have to tell me twice comrade, I'm Brazilian, and operation condor wreaked major freaking havoc here in our continent, it is one of the saddest things I ever learned about, in local recent history, it boils my blood in a way that I lack the words to express.

  • Holy cow, I really thought it was, that's pretty cool actually

  • By what it seems they put it there more as a way to reduce liability, in case the US comes a looking, because it does not describe any tools or measures to prevent it, in fact it even states that it is not geoblocked anywhere

PS: forgive my ignorance, I thought that any fedora based distro, would be considered downstream of Fedora if that's not the case what would be the actual definition of downstream? Honestly asking here, just wanna understand better

  • Well, to be fair, it was always run by the interest of the capital, that is the nature of the system itself, the role of the state is to protect private property after all, the shocking thing is the brazen way they are doing it lately, usually the system likes to hide this shit and pretend that democracy means something in capitalism, but now this is as explicit as it comes.
