  • And that's why Sen. Stan Gerdes had all those URLs in their browser history!

  • What is "surface"?

In this context, I believe this is limiting to planets whose water is not deep inside the planet's crust somewhere, but exposed to its atmosphere.

  • I typically solve this by:

    1. Factory reset the Smart TV to take it offline.
    2. Install Android TV on a Raspberry Pi and connect it.
    3. Mount the Raspberry Pi to the back of the TV with some Velcro tape.

The result is most of the convenience of a Roku with none of the privacy concerns.

And as others have said, JellyFin is a great addition for watching home movies, or any other Mp3 or MP4 files.

But also, the most Android streaming apps just work.

As of when I posted this:

    • Disney+ works now.
    • DropOut.tv works now.
    • Netflix worked last time I tried it.
    • Amazon Prime worked last time I tried it.
    • Paramount Plus doesn't work no matter what I try. (But I'm not willing to add Google Framework Service, which would likely work.)

Paramount Plus also has more trackers in it than any other Android app I've used, so I tend to avoid sending them money anyway.

  • So CISA released a statement that says absolutely fucking nothing.

I would have more respect remaining for them if they had the wisdom to shut up and let Musk take credit for all the stupid.

I guess they decided together the doublespeak department is too important to cut.

  • Good for you. Wages aren't keeping up with inflation, but our leaders need to ask everyone if they're working hard enough.

I'm not sure this turns out fine for them. A lot of what Elon does is illegal, and he thinks that the courts will never catch up with him because he will always be one of the richest people around, and will always be popular. History suggests, he will get some justice for his bullshit. Probably not what is fair, but a lot more than he expects.

In the meantime, wishing you all the best.

  • MR. GOLEMBIEWSKI: Well, Your Honor, it is well known in this country that kids are addicted to these platforms. This is a mental health —

THE COURT: It was well known when I was growing up that I was going to become a Satanist because I played Dungeons & Dragons. Is that — I don’t know what really that means. You can say that there’s studies, Judge, and you can’t ignore expert reports that say X.

    Delightful.

  • That's what the media cycles misses. There's been no better time in history to be a rich uninformed idiot. History will look back on this as the golden age of the rich idiot

  • Agreed. We can all give each-other a break for misgendering by mistake. But this was pretty clearly an intentional asshole. They even repeated it and defended it after being given a chance in case it was a mistake.)

  • Keating replied, “You will not continue it with me unless you introduce a duly elected representative the right way.” Self then adjourned the hearing.

Good for him, standing up for a colleage and due process, too.

If the government feels the need to recognize what's in our pants, the government needs reninded exactly where our boundaries lie.

What's in my pants is whatever the fuck I tell them is in my pants.

  • No worries. Also I'm a little jealous of you, that today, for you, Tim Curry returned to life.

    That would brighten my day.

I hope the rest of your day also is at least as good as learning Tim Curry is still alive.

  • ”"I’m not here to fight about bathrooms. I’m here to fight for Delawareans and to bring down costs facing families," she said."

Fuck yeah. Rock on. I'm sorry she has to face this bullshit, but Delaware is lucky to have her.

  • Claudio Verequete lives about 200m from where the road will be. He used to make an income from harvesting açaí berries from trees that once occupied the space.

"Everything was destroyed," he says, gesturing at the clearing.

"Our harvest has already been cut down. We no longer have that income to support our family."

He says he has received no compensation from the state government and is currently relying on savings.

In case it's unclear that these people claiming to care about the climate are genuinely as bad as any cartoon villain out of Fern Gully.

Edit: I wonder if we can get Tim Curry to record a public scolding of them. That would be a fitting publicity stunt to draw attention to this.

  • It feels like remote online conferencing should be mandatory for anyone claiming - during the meeting - to give a shit about the climate.

This feels like a bare minimum guideline.

  • "Chief! It was a giant swarm of bees, chief! Would you believe it? A hundred giant bees, with automatic weapons!"

"I find that hard to believe, Agent 86."

"Would you believe a three very large spiders, armed with rifles?"

    "..."

"Would you believe...a cricket with a derringer?"

  • And rumor is DOGE has lousy opsec. And I suspect DOGE won't be able to fix their opsec (after they start getting owned) because veteran engineers pay attention, and Musk seems incapable of loyalty.

  • Neat. I've been holding out for a new higher quality retro emulator without sticks. The old games I want to play don't use sticks, and the sticks make it harder to carry in a pocket.

  • Get her a Raspberry Pi! Lol.
