Hi! I’m British, I like music (grime, garage, hip-hop, R&B, and more!). I like art, culture, history, politics, & doomscrolling memes.
Also a touch of programming :)

Apple Music in its current form is basically a direct evolution out of iTunes. It’s a very old feature.
Plex has been on a downward spiral for awhile now. This will really kill the service for a lot of people, wonder if Plex sharing will be a thing of the past and people switch to jellyfin sharing
Don’t let imperfection get in the way of progress. If you move slightly towards the left, you’re opening doors for more left ideology.
Without electoral reform, there’s no functional reason to. The lesser evil of the current system is Democrats. If you want to enact change, push support for the progressive wing of the party and push for electoral reform.
It’s worse here too because you can actually filter out the memes from r/piracy, Lemmy has no such feature since it still lacks a flair/tag system

I grew up working class with parents on welfare living in government housing. I did, in-fact, actually have to leave my couch in order to improve my living conditions and am acutely aware of the consequences of rising rent, rising energy costs, stagnant wages, and high food prices.
Most of us don’t get the choice to be full time internet activists unfortunately.
A blockade doesn’t work if you can’t defend it. They can do whatever they want but actions have consequences.
nobody in America cares about the non-Palestinian Middle East enough for “some” to rally behind him just because he bombed some Yemenis
Your average American does care about the economy and price of common items, oil, etc, and Houthis bombing the most important trade route in the world directly effects that.
By the time of the Famine, Scottish plantations had been in Ireland for almost 300 years. I’m not sure cherry picking one incident in the long lineage of exploitation over Ireland excuses anyone to be honest. Even after the famine, stuff like Black & Tans having notorious Scottish units and even in the modern day you can point to remaining tensions between ulster-scot protestants and Irish catholics.
From whom were they fleeing? Yes, it is wrong to excuse Scotland from playing an active role in colonising Ireland. That should be obvious
Commoners everywhere are victims of the elite. That’s not unique to England nor does it excuse Scotland.
