  • Reminds me somewhat of Ame's Smol Adventures series which sadly never made it past episode 1: YouTube

  • I'm sure everyone is for better treatment of developers but in the context of the movement they're not important.

I'm not sure I agree with your premise. If developers with good work conditions had their say over whether games were killed or preserved, I think most would choose the latter. The two issues are perhaps not as insular as we wished they were for the sake of a clean and simple "message" for SKG.

  • Yes, it actually spends the majority of its word count on the Stop Killing Games movement as-is, then notes in a single section at the end that industry practices for developers are also killing games (since developers make the games). Thus if you support Stop Killing Games uppercase because you want the industry to stop killing games lowercase, reforming that part is important too.

  • Given that I forgot it existed, I'm not in a great position to answer 😅 I haven't used it in nearly a year myself!

  • I honestly think it's in their self-interest to do so here, so I had expected them to keep it up for at least several years. It costs them almost nothing and gets them goodwill. By shutting it down they save almost no money and now they have brand damage from enthusiasts.

  • It's actually surprised me to discover that many of the "big computer hardware" companies in the west have somewhat low ratings compared to what I had expected, so maybe this isn't quite as big of a deal as I thought.

Nvidia's and AMD's respective credit ratings look higher (though I'm having trouble immediately finding recent numbers), but they're also "hot" right now so probably aren't a good comparison.

  • Ngl, I kind of forgot holoplus existed lol

  • Not that I necessarily want it to happen (or not), but this would be a very funny way for Pat to return

  • As I understand it, Mumei participated in several projects before she left, some of which are only coming out post-graduation.

  • But if not making chips requires.. still making chips (to show people that your IP is actually worth a damn), why not just.. make chips? Idk

  • Related-ish: a couple months ago Towa also covered mumei (the song): YouTube

  • That's an interesting take, but I reckon it'd be a tough sell given the latency penalty it'd bring with it to do that, especially if the core scheduling is ever "wrong" and ends up unnecessarily bouncing between the dies. Guess we'll have to wait and see!
