  • No, first time I hear about it

  • Thanks that solves it

  • Looks interesting but I tried it and like most alternative engines, it's bad and showing regional results for me. It's good for English based searches but not in my lingo

  • I'd say "old" RAID could be dead if you have proper backups and have the ability to replace a defect drive fast in the case uptime is crucial. But there's also modern RAID like btrfs and zfs that also can repair corrupted filed, caused by bitrot for example. Old RAID can't do that also hardware based RAID couldn't either when I used it until years ago. Maybe that changed but I don't see the point of hardware based RAID in most cases anymore

  • Too bad about the choice for qwant. I've been using them for many years and they have big flaws: they block visits from unsupported countries, so if you're traveling, you're fucked. They also started blocking ad blocking users and their main webpage is full of crap that you have to disable manually. Their support is non existing. And they use the same censorship as Microsoft. I moved to brave search recently

  • Reality proves enough that forbidding drugs doesn't work though, it just creates a lot of other problems. Forbidding some parts of it like ads about them, selling to minors etc do have effect however

  • Boobstreamers eroticizing themselves in front of kids and luring them to their onlyfans sites. Should be treated as pedophilia

  • While I'm all for OSS, I'm also objective enough to know where it's not a good idea. And I think this is one of them. They have commercial one available in their own country called softmaker, which comes with support which is really important for a business or organization. I've been using it for many years because the OSS where just not right for me. Also liked WPS more but Linux dev was slow, but now I found my match

  • It can also be used very simply though. It works out of the box with any changes necessary. The issue I find with gnome is that its simplicity quickly became a bottleneck for me. E.g. Konsole is just so great and I couldn't live without it anymore

  • Ssh over wireguard to a container in my bastion

  • Ok mandalorian

  • True dat

  • A lot of IT companies in NL hire foreigners. There's just too little local offer. They throw with work visas as a result, because they've never heard about remote-first work being possible after covid. They can't modernize their work culture because of stupid old fashioned managers and as a result NL has one of the worst housing crisis in Europe. And pay ain't that good either in a lot of cases, taking into account how much you lose on rent.

  • I'm scared it will break something if I update

  • Firejail is an alternative

  • Interesting that you ask about this. I was looking for one last week and noticed all Android ones are full of trackers (via play store) so I thought about developing an open source one that not only let you track your usage, but also create community groups that support you in not drinking anymore. All with full privacy

  • Nitrokey isn't fully open source though. The secure element is proprietary. But that's not their fault, OSS secure elements aren't a thing yet unfortunately, but some companies wanna bring a change in that

  • Looks good. I also add compress=zstd to / subvolume. I don't add discard because it's set up in LUKS for me. I also don't use a separate subvolume for /var/log, so where possible, compression is used. Journald auto adds +C attr to prevent COW being active on those files because it's unnecessary. I also use a separate swapfile instead of a separate fs.

  • Same here. I've always wondered what dbus actually was and I'm glad OP asked
