  • Some memories simply exist to bring pain. No amount of processing can change that. Best you can do is laugh at yourself about it.

  • Persecution and litigation against gay people is basically thought crime, isn't it? Why is this still something we have to defend against?

  • I like this comment. Because you're right, I felt doom in the pit of my stomach before seeing it. Thanks for adding nuance.

  • I sincerely hope you're right. I'm American, so I don't have that kind of faith in humanity lately. By all means though, spread the word.

  • I don't disagree. However, anyone who thinks it predicts the future? They won't be swayed by people who say "nuh uh". People have been saying that forever. Anyone who thinks to prove it isn't predictive either already know, or are susceptible to confirmation bias. I'm just calling it what it is: a procedurally generated advice column. Take what resonates, leave what doesn't. If it affects your mental health, take a step back. It's not that serious.

  • Therapy costs money, and isn't done for fun though. It's not the same thing. Like, are we trying to tell people who read fortune cookies to go to therapy instead? It's a dumb interest that some people get way too into. Therapy helps with the obsessive part, which doesn't need astrology to manifest.

  • Very reddit to get downvoted for asking a question. But yeah, I saw what I expected. People using astrology improperly, becoming obsessed, and finding consequences. If it doesn't happen with astrology, it'll happen with something else. This is a people problem.

  • People are also talking about John Cena's heel persona as though it represents anything tangible to reality. Where's the harm though?

  • Have any cases of life-destroying choices that can be attributed to astrology?

  • Astrology used as a predictive engine obviously doesn't work. Anyone using it that way is using it improperly IMO. It's more like procedurally generated advice. For example, mine says there's a conflict between old and new, and to embrace change while drawing on past lessons. Super vague, can apply to anyone. But it resonates and gives me something to focus on. That's really all there is to it. Trying to "prove" it doesn't work is like trying to "prove" wrestling is fake. That's not the point, man.

  • Can confirm.

  • Yeah, every sense of community I've ever felt with a job was also ruined by that same job. I don't remotely miss it, and I'm firmly child-free.

  • Yeah, I see open world games as fancier tabletop games in most cases. Which isn't a bad thing by any means.

  • "First two have two" is what made my brain trip and fall.

  • Top tier pun

  • Hey, welcome to the club! Pantheism has helped me find some deceptively obvious truths in life. "As above, so below" being a big one. Meshes remarkably well with science, and if anything it rekindled my enjoyment of science and reality in general. It's the healthiest relationship I've ever had with "religion".

  • Exactly my point! I was a staunch atheist in childhood, mostly out of rebellion against Christianity. I'm something else now because I asked the question in sincerity. I'm still definitely not a Christian, mind you. But man, the void is cool to ponder about.

  • If I'm being honest, I think people will figure out god too. All it is is a question.

    "Did someone do all this?"

It's a reasonable question. Easy to ask, hard to answer. Attempt to identify this variable "someone", and people will eventually land on some kind of god.
