The whole thing is super dumb, as you said, burning the flag is the proper way to get rid of one no longer for for display (imagine the flag hanging out of a bin or something).
You know what's also against the flag code? Plastering it everywhere that's not a flag, like towels or whatever. But the flag code is only binding for government bodies if I'm not mistaken.
I'm all for alternatives, regardless of whether I'm gonna use them, but in my opinion, one of systemd's big advantages is that you're not relying on scripts for service management; scripts mix configuration with logic and this was a big reason why a lot of distributions switched to systemd in the first place. The init scripts (that they had to write themselves) were sometimes getting very large and complex in order to cover interdependencies (both to other services, but also to eventual mountpoints) and ordering.
Now, please don't see this as a general criticism of this init system, firstly I'm not an expert on the subject, second I don't believe there is the one and true design that covers all cases. My criticism is more towards the reporting about this when comparing to systemd.
There are comparisons that state that this isn't the monolith systemd is. From the author's own blog in comparison to runit:
nitro favors a monolithic approach, and keeps everything in a single process. This makes it also easier to install for containerization.
So if you're really into that "do one thing and do it well" mantra, use something different. Note: personally, I think use what does the job best, and if you think nitro does a particular job better than systemd, go for it. I'd guess that it could be particularly suited better for the last three bullet points in the OP compared to systemd, but that would need to be tested in practice.
Anyhow, if you hate systemd or another piece of free software, go touch grass.
The second y in Syyu is almost always unneeded and just wastes time and bandwidth. Is i remember correctly, it only makes sense when for example you switch mirrors
Those who understand how AI is created and how it is possible to be used in incredible ways, but through Capitalism is being shoved into all kinds of dumb features that do nothing but annoy users, in the hope of jumping on the AI hype train.
There are legitimate uses for what falls under the umbrella term, but the current hype is 99.9% built on generative AI, preferably LLMs. No one is investing 20 billion dollars to better detect potential risk for Alzheimer's from a person's skin tissue. Megacorps aren't contemplating building nuclear power plants so that we can predict the weather more reliably. The "incredible ways" (and I agree, there are very good applications for non-generative AI) have been there for years, yet few investors cared for them because their commercial application is limited.
I don't think they're sensationalist, they just don't sugarcoat the industry bullshit. And believe it or not, they need to make money from this, it doesn't pay itself. It's like saying newspapers should be free, or else informing the people isn't their primary concern.
"A farmer wants the money. Giving the good away for free would be great if they just wanted to feed people, but that's not their primary concern." Can even play that game for nurses etc
Don't take my answer too literal. I was just arguing the same way the poster before you did, applying the same logic.
In fact I (as a German) could imagine working in all these places. But it's not like they are without issues. And I think Europe has some countries that are very attractive to foreigners, just that Germany isn't on the list.
Vote for us, only we can fix the issues we caused!
Note to international readers: from 1982 onwards, the currently ruling party suggesting this has been in power over 32 years combined. Now, if you didn't fail elementary math, you might come to a damning conclusion
Thanks, I immediately recognized it as a formula but couldn't remember what it was for (in my defense, the last time it was relevant to me was about 15 years ago when I studied electrical engineering).
It's kind of an interesting phenomenon here. There was the news of the flight attendant this week who want allowed on the flight she was planned on because she was too drunk, so much in fact that she crashed her car on the way to the airport, and quite some people were basically "I think being drunk at work is fine"
It's very much engrained in society still, I mean go out, drink, IDGAF, but don't hit me with that "it's actually good for you / this is culture / this world can't be enjoyed sober" stuff. Quit lying and take some responsibility
But only so.
