  • It was also a grand experiment in war fighting, one that would not only help the Ukrainians but reward the Americans with lessons for any future war.

How hateful this reads after 700,000 Russian and 435,000 Ukraine soldiers died and the clear signs of this being a proxy war of NATO vs Russia. Ukraine was manipulated and used, Russia provoked. NATO openly admitted to this and even though it's still covered up by the media in lockstep when the war eventually grinds to a halt, the Ukranians will ask questions.

I suspect there will be decades and decades of recrimination and hate from Ukraine towards both the east and the west. A fascist Ukraine could become a terrible security problem for both Europe and Russia. Ukraine is good at propaganda, as seen with the KyivNotKiev campaign, and they will drag Europe down.

All this death and suffering, for what? Cheap real estate in the east?

  • just get a beat up junker bike

Even so I still use a piece of string to tie up my old junker bike. But at least it was free!

  • The other, lesser known Hindenburg disaster is coming. Cue for democratic leaders to talk about how such acts of terrorism absolutely mustn't be tolerated!

  • This isn't really new though, it's just saying the quite part out loud. always-has-been.gif.

Neoliberalism is the cause of the decay and paved the way for fascism. If you let large conglomerates own everything including news media and social media and then sell access to spew vile hate speech and disinformation to people, the current result is to be expected. It's actually kind of refreshing that they actually come out and say it.

These people also don't believe in equality, they believe inequality of humans is fundamentally morally correct. Neoliberals believe in inequality based on class/wealth, fascists believe in inequality based on identity like race or gender.

The true sin is ignorance and neglect.

  • They'll either keep it quite or make a huge investigation and issue out of this.

  • Consider the OP article, is the CCP actually doing anything worse in regards of free press to inform their citizens than the USA? It's pure garbage propaganda on all fronts in all directions and people simply don't know what is real and what is important any more.

If you measure the actual quality of life in the US and China it might be that moving to China would be a good idea. If China would allow immigration lol

The CCP is authoritarian but they can act rationally and make long term plans. Meanwhile in the US and increasingly in western democracies only chaos and dumbassery reigns.

  • Seriously? With everything going on this is what people want to rage about? How disconnected do you have to be?

  • Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks

  • Some socialist theory defines fascism as capitalism in decline. I don't really agree with that definition but it's not wrong with their critique of capitalism. So if you want to learn more about that, you should look into the (few) socialist academics.

One simple example would be corporate or capitalist ownership of media or the "fifth estate". How could you have a democracy when voters are deliberately misinformed about reality? And not because of ideology but for profit and to create better rules to increase corporate profits? What else do you expect to happen?

  • I think the whole thing might be a joke? 😀

  • I'm confused, is this a serious take? How they make their money leads to how the game is designed and who for. If it's advertising it's shit. If it's microtransactions it becomes about min-maxing annoyance for most gamers while attracting whales, gambling and is shit. Monthly subscriptions is a model that needs loyalty and should attract people who want to "live" in an permanent virtual game world.

Ideally I'd want a global "entertainment subscription" non-profit that is funding projects for the players benefits and is somewhat crowd-controlled like a socialist bank.

  • Yeah, blowing up satellites and cutting undersea internet cables would be (a short) prelude to world war III.

  • There is also a recent academic book (by an Ukrainian academic) about the maidan massacre: The Maidan Massacre in Ukraine: The Mass Killing that Changed the World | SpringerLink

Evidence shows beyond a reasonable doubt the far right / oligarchs were behind the mass killing of over 100 people and blame it on the government in a false flag operation. But people in the west will never hear of this. And if they hear they will dismiss it as conspiracy theory or propaganda. So it's really no wonder people like linus react like this.

  • Wikipedia relies on sources, and humans choosing the sources like newspapers. And those newspapers are more and more inside a "bubble" that rejects any evidence or reporting presented by a competing bubble.

Right now wikipedia is covering up one of the greatest acts of mass murder of our times, because the newspapers are covering it up, or rejecting evidence because it's by the "enemy". Part of this is a defensive posture against AI bots and enemy disinformation.

  • It also has to be a waste of some resource that is rare to not use up and throw away like this.

  • This was shit graphics even back in 1996 because it only uses primary or fully saturated colors. It's "dev art", made by someone with no artistic talent. Or maybe made for 4 year old kids. I missed out on a lot of games with good gameplay because I just can't stand on this abomination of a color palette.

The worst thing? When games actually went with a more pastel or naturalistic color palette, moronic games journalists would say the colors look "drab" or some shit.

  • Shithole country. Honestly, together with the issues like voter roll purging and winner takes it all. How can you take this "pro/con" discussion even seriously?

The real question should be why the US is so undemocratic, what the forces are that drive this minority rule and prevent a more free and open society.

  • Thanks, this gemini protocol looks interesting! This would be an easy protocol for distributed p2p hosting / caching / archiving of websites similar to federalist. I just wish gemtext would support bold and italics and hyperlinks.
