Well I deleted my account before LLM's were even a thing so as long as they deleted my data it should be fine. If they didn't delete the data that'd be a yikes but that information should be leaked eventually and will cause quite the issue with the EU.
We can only do so much and hope the actions have the impact we intend.
I work in QA, even devs who've worked for 10+ years make dumb mistakes every so often. I wouldn't want to do QA when AI is writing the software, it's just gonna give me even more work 🫠
I actually blitz changed so much that there isn't much I can really do anymore.
All that's left is: Discord, Youtube, Whatsapp, Twitch and a bit of scrolling reddit on my shadowbanned account (there's just more buyfromeu content there)
and installing GrapheneOS on my pixel and Linux on my pc (which I'll be doing when I get a new one so I can set up dual booting while still having a functional one for work/leasure while getting that figured out)
Oh and getting home assistant figured out once I've moved, currently using google home for my entire 1 smart lamp
Also, currently I'm driving a Toyota Yaris lease car from my company. I can switch whenever due to flex leasing but I just can't find an EU made car that's as good for the price. Closest pick I have is a VW Polo for a bit over 100 euros extra a month
I used ik.me before going to my own email and no issues with any site, its a valid email if they have issues with it honestly just take your business elsewhere cause if they can't get an email validation figured out what else can't they do well 😂
Exactly this, I only went to Lemmy because I got shadowbanned on reddit. Specifically because every time someone mentions it its always "hur dur choose server, federation, bla bla" made it 100x more complicated than it had to be and made me not even want to check it out. I tried convincing a friend of mine to switch from reddit to here and they didn't want to even after me explaining its just creating an account on feddit.nl, their reasoning was that they heard something about federation and decentralized stuff and because of that it was too complicated and he wasn't interested. You lost that user entirely because someone mentioned it instead of keeping it simple.
I will agree with the annoyance they share on the post of having multiple communities about the same subject having bad cross-posting (due to no comment sharing) to reach everyone and that we should have a solution for that. Although I do not see a direct solution, their idea is good but I don't really understand how moderation would work in that sense. Also blaze's argument "just post it on the largest server everybody is there anyways" is in my opinion exactly against what lemmy stands for and makes everybody depended on that 1 community/host/whatever we wanna call it.
For email provider Infomaniak provides as good of a service as google for free and their paid sub is 2 euros a month for 1TB of cloud storage. They've been a great alternative for me. Just need to find a calendar app you like if you want to use their calendar as it doesn't have a mobile app.
Edit: Also I suggest getting your own domain and using that email instead so switching is easier in the future. You can set up gmail to infomaniak forwarding in Gmail settings (reply if you need help with it)
I got myself kualdir.eu for 9 euros a year and infomaniak handles the rest. Got 2 inboxes and can add aliases if I want to use those. Can always transfer the domain elsewhere if I want to switch and don't have to worry about changing my email everywhere again.
Omg that's adorable
