Nvidia was basically allowed to sell it's second best in China. Just enough to compete with the best that Chinese themselves have. It was basically a trap.
Zelensky's actions only make no sense if one thinks he is doing what's best for Ukraine and ukrainians and is still intrerested in winning this war. In my opinion it's been quite obvious that Zelensky's and the goal of his close circle is to fight this war, not to make peace and ride this war as long as possible. Not to victory, because that seemed unlikely in 2022 and it seems almost impossible now. The goal is to stay in saddle until the collapse comes and then flee with the money and remain Ukraine's western recognize president in exile for life and keep living large with all the money he has and will have. If peace comes through peace agreement he will be the president that lost Ukraine and has to step down and the radicals who kept him in power will probably kill him as a traitor for betraying Ukraine.
Zelensky's goal therefore is not victory, but control. Control over the goverment and especially the military, ideological batalions and intelligence apparatus and such. Those will keep the war going, Russians away from Kiev, people in line and his political opponents silent. Those will help him ride out this war.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the incursion could not be a mistake - it was "an obvious expansion of the war by Russia". Moscow has not commented on the Romanian claims.
Poland I can believe, as a one time Russian mistake or guidance error, but Romania on the other side of Ukraine, not next to Russia or Belarus. I'm now supposed to believe that these decoy drones are suddenly just flying across Ukraine to Romania?
It's fucking Ukraine who is sending these. This is the Russian s-300 missile kills polish farmers of 2022 all over again. Remember when that was totally the case that Russia killed poles and Zelensky said this is a mark of Russian aggression and Nato would need to intervene. Then it was pretty quickly stated S-300 didn't have the range to fly from Russian AA battery across Ukraine and into Poland and then they discovered that the missile was an model that only Ukraine had anymore. So everybody went hush hush and it was written down as an tragic accident.
Ukraine is the one who is losing and needs Nato intervention to not lose totally or have to settle for peace that Kiev doesn't want. Or am I just going to have to believe that out of the blue for 4 year of war Russia suddenly starts pelting neighboring countries with not scout drones, not drones with warheads, but with a decoy drones that have been falling over Ukraine almost nightly air raids for years now, since unless they are shot down as they are supposed to they just fall down on the ground with very little harm to the drone. Why? Russia preparing for an attack, sending a message? It's Ukraine who is doing this. They want a no fly zone, boots on the ground, and Nato AA in Ukraine, because Kiev are dry regarding AA and will lose the war otherwise if they don't get Europeans to die for them too.
Those drones didn't attack poland. They merely passed through it's airspace to Ukraine. Not a first even of it's kind as I recall. Could be a mistake could be a false flag, but in neither case an event that starts a war. Airspace violations, even by military planes are not all that uncommon.
Macron won't allow that. They already pulled serious fuckery over the popular front and national rally just to get into government. They are even more unpopular now than they were in 2024.
The slop beside... What's the point of throwing your students out a of class if they hadn't done the prepwork? In principle It's their personal learning that suffers there and at college/uni level you have to take responsibility for your own learning. if you don't you fail. It's not the professors job to enforce everybody's personal work morale outside of grading.
If this something set out as mandatory for passing course, then fine, tough shit for students. I'm like almost imagining that the lecturer is punishing them or making an example of them as if they were a bunch of 12yo kids not doing their AI-slop homework and therefore disrespecting her authority. If they actually lacked the prerequisite knowledge to take part in discussion then they could have at least listened others speak and her maybe teach? No prepwork can be so important that the subject is totally incomprehensible if you don't do your AI-slop prep.
Tbh I don't know jack about American uni/college teaching culture or mybe enough of this case, but this sounds fucked.
Hamas knows that they won't accept and that this war never about the hostages to begin with. IDF would be quite happy to slit their throats themselves if it allowed them to destroy Hamas and kill Gaza quicker. It's just PR for Hamas, they are the reasonable ones wanting peace and release of the hostages, but US and Israel refuse.
you must deliver us X amount of Y resource by next quarter or we drone strike
Ask yourself if you could that with Gaza. They can't produce shit rn, everything in a middle of a war goes to surviving. If you go on the way of petty extortion you are more likely to get your bluff called or get a war than a steady supply of goods. The more you bomb the less you are going to economically get out of a place. You essentially would sacrifice economic surplus to get less economic surplus from a place. Then the country and it's surroundings either turns into a warzone or a symbol that you can fight against extortion. In both cases it's economic sinkhole for those who do the extortion and if that extortion is supposed to feed the whole cycle then even one country resisting turns the whole thing into a economic net negative. Also the coherence of the western homefront is quite dependent on the idea that we are the good guys. Even 1900th century empires had their idea white mans burden. This would be just blatant theft and extortion. You can't even easily hide it much less easily justify it.
Even the current economic system is basically just theft. West prints infinite money, gives it to the third world in form of loans so they can participate in the global dollar based market for whatever they need, then these countries have to give back resources to get more dollars to pay back that dollar debt. It's still theft, but theft that obfuscated behind narratives and lies.
No. West doesn't have the muscle to return to to the 1800s and early 1900s level boots on the ground colonialism. The cost of up keeping such a regime are too high in comparison to the benefits and war has only gotten more expensive since then. That's why everything slipped into this "give them independence but colonize them by banks and credit" system. Keep them poor, deindustrialized and producing minerals and plantation crops as a only way to pay back dollar debt and in the process feed for western industries and markets with cheap inputs. You must understand that the old style colonialism didn't end because porky got more humane and peace loving. They literally couldn't get more surplus out than they would have to sink into keeping an actual colony standing. Don't get me wrong they probably would want the redcoats, colonial offices and colonies back but they can't.
Israel's case is more about that they can't back down or admit defeat so they lash out and hope something changes. Israel is more of a vital symbol to western power than it's actually supporting that western power, just look at the fucking PR liability Israel has become. Nobody in the west or abroad thinks west gives AF about human rights/democracy freedums or whatever. They are probably just so afraid that they can't anymore say that "it isn't over" if Israel goes and they can't face that personally or much less be the people whose watch "the light of civilization" as they see it went out.
