  • The old expression "the solution to polution is dilution" is fucking horrifying. Bioaccumulation and environmental persistence were known well even in the 50s with mercury and things like ddt but the industrial lobbies were just real good at preventing meaningful legislation or regulations. Now we get all the downsides.

  • You can often also checkout cd's and dvd's.

Completely unrelated but did you know you can rip your own dvd's and cd's to your computer as a backup in case the physical disc gets damaged? The process is quite simple.

  • Don't go into this video thinking it is the story, it is basically a channel update/funding request. GN is great and I am sure the final series will be good but this is not what that video is.

  • It's especially impressive that he mananged to do that with his hands tied behind his back. Some people are just determined I guess.

  • Yeah, I don't care that it has become less profitable for the producers. Given the demand for energy right now and how little is being actively done to make solar more ubiquitous ESPECIALLY in low-income areas, I want the bottom to fall out. Make it too cheap to justify anything else being used during daylight hours.

The arguments in favor of keeping fossil fuels have always been based on cost and up-time. If you can't argue on cost then you can only justify keeping them available when you don't have sun.

  • Is this an overcapacity issue or an underutilization issue? Yeah, I get the financial distinction and implications of this but given everything shouldn't this be a justification to just use the extras on a purely cost basis?

  • I hope they are a reissue, otherwise chewy has seen some things.

  • Good question, I got an ad on my fucking banana the other day...

  • No, it isn't unfortunately. It means that any pain they potentially stave off now will be back on the table in another year. It just kicks the can down the road and if anything, it shows that they will be willing to cave into the same demands or arguements again next time.

We got here because the dems didn't push back in any meaningful way over the last 16 years. Look at how McConnel fucked us over with the supreme court justices, judicial nominations, committee appointments etc.

We are here because the left tried to be reasonable with unreasonable people. Now that the stakes are high enough they finally figured out that strategy doesn't work. I hope they make the repubs own the mess they made and show the public exactly why the govt is shut down, and whose fault it really is.

  • I love Snakeybus. It is a fantastic game to zone and chill to.

  • Don't worry it's engine nerd shit, no one there is having any sex.

  • On the fedira ws vm, I just layered it because its easy. I tried running openjdk in distrobox on bazzite but I didn't have time to screw around with getting the program (Tunerstudio MS) that is already on my bazzite install to "find" the java in distrobox. I'm also REALLY new to distrobox so I was probably using it wrong. I'll checkout toolbox later today.

  • I wouldn't accept one of his checks even with an I.D.

  • The scale of this sort of thing is laughably huge. He's an idiot.

  • Which model do you have? I have been eyeing a fx or xe.

  • Yeahh java is a pain in the ass to get setup on bazzite without breaking stuff when you have an os update. I spun a fedora vm up and just installed it there but I need to redo that because the program I need java for is on my main os and I can't move the license without javing java installed on the main os...

  • When I went, I left Houston and the highs were like 110f for a couple weeks but it was dry. The hottest July in several years. We have broken that record in average temp for the following two years iirc.

  • It's absolutely miserable outside on top of all the other reasons not to go. I had to go for work a couple years ago to setup a control system.

The air was so thick with dust that I didn't see the sky proper from the time the plane went in to land until my departing flight climbed back above the cloud. It was 112 degrees during the daytime and damn near 100% humidity even with the dust. I still managed to get sunburned under the cloud. There was next to no breeze so the heat is just stagnant on top of everything else. Even at night, it was 90+f. There is just no relief from the heat.
