    Turns out the jewelers intentionally undervalued what was in the truck to avoid paying a high insurance rate. They claimed their goods were only worth about $10m when in reality the actual appraised value was $100m.

    Now the jewelers are trying to sue the transportation company (Brinks) for the full value of what was stolen. Brinks, in return, is countersuing the jewelers for breach of contract and fraud.

    Honestly hope everyone here loses. Except the guy who self deported. He already won.

  • No no no. You just use the fusion to heat the water to make the steam to turn a turbine and then distribute that energy. Boom electric cars are a thing. While it's technically possible to make a car with 0 petroleum products, it's not financially viable in the current market.

    Oil is remarkably cheap. I always find it funny that a gallon of gas and a gallon of water stay about the same price when one literally falls from the sky for free.

    Idk about that visual model tho. Nothing I've seen has indicated that mantle plumes are caused by subducted plate sections interacting with the outer core transition layer. It also doesn't make much sense as we can track the Yellowstone Hotspot back out into the pacific ocean back 70-150 Mya. There's no subducting plate in the middle of the ocean to cause that Hotspot originally. Seems bunk on my layman understanding of PNW geology.

  • Mandatory paid breaks are definitely a thing here. CA is 10 minutes every 4 hours. FMLA and workers comp cover medical protection. I can't remember the last time I even pretended to consider a job without holiday pay and vacation, though i agree they should be mandatory and not optional. Where exactly are you working with conditions like you describe?
