  • Stop it, the US doesn't have anything remotely close to the bottom of the barrel that is the Toast Sandwich.

  • Idk how the fuck resigning is heroic

Because america is a very aesthetically driven country, so sticking around tends to be a signal to normal people (aka, not us, not anyone terminally online, ect.) that they're okay with something happening. Resigning is to most normal people the way you disagree with how things are being ran. Also if said person resigning has other ambitions, sticking around tends to end up having certain kinds of ads write themselves.

  • I don't think we actually disagree at all. I was basically complaining about how Stormgate is "modern" SC2, a game built solely around "balance" for competitive level play and not at all interested in making a game that is actually fun to play at all. And like you said, that appeals to no one, because people who like to play SC2 will just continue to play that, and people who don't like SC2 won't want to play an SC2 clone.

Me every time I see someone contort the reason why Gundam Evo failed having absolutely nothing to do with just borrowing Overwatch's homework and barely changing much if anything at all. Like I literally got a "But it's a better balanced Overwatch" from people defending it.

  • my only experience with the Dark Knight story is from the Nolan movies and the animated adaptations.

Okay, the animated one is a adaptation of the comic book series, Nolan's batman movies are just heavily influenced by the comics. In that it always shows Batman to be correct in what he does and such.

Dark Knight Returns, and most Batman stories that Frank Millar wrote is I feel pretty much the main reason why people say "Batman is a fascist". And if someone's only exposure to the caped crusader was through Frank Millar written stories (and ones where the writer was influenced by Frank's work) I feel sorry for them, and I do understand why they would think Batman is a fascist. Because that's just how Frank Millar writes Batman for some reason.

  • Short answer: No

    Long answer: Fuck No.

The problem is that military logistics just doesn't work the way you think it does. As right now there is realistically only three nations that have mastered the art of managing military logistics, the US (don't laugh), Russia, and China, while everyone else relies on one or more of the three in some way for their nation's defense. And of the three options for Venezuela, two of the options have an ocean (aka makes shipments easily interceptable) between them.

Pretty much the time to start arming for defending against the US was when the sabres were being rattled, which was at least 5+ years ago.

  • Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries on elite difficulty. Or hell, go play Mechwarrior Online, 95% of skill in that game is game sense and positioning. And on the aim side you just need to shoot well enough for regular queue, which just isn't hard compared to CS, halo, or any major mp fps game.

  • It's not a movie, but the Seirra point and click game Conquests of the Longbow (video about it) is an interesting Robin Hood story, in that you can be the best Robin Hood, or be the worst Robin Hood possible.

  • I remembered after I posted, but to be fair here I don't want to remember the guy's name.

  • I think this feels like something fresh because Snyder movies have a really weird aesthetic that I think tainted DC's heroes.

That's probably because the Snyder, the writer's room, or both seems to have only read Dark Knight Returns, Killing Joke, and Watchmen. Especially the first of the three, and you can see it bubbling from the seems in the Nolan batman movies too.

A little bit about Dark Knight Returns since a lot of DC stuff was influenced by it throughout the 2000s and mostly through the 10s. Written by Frank Millar, it is pretty much the "definitive" batman story that pushed all future Batman stories into having a dark/brooding tone. It's also the center piece of what the popular image of batman is, which was further popularized by the Nolan Batman trilogy, and oh boy this story did not age well at all. Especially since Frank Millar went on to write Holy Terror, if you don't know about that book, be thankful for the rock you're living under. It's a lot worse then you're thinking.

    Jump
  • The thermal drill, go get it.

  • That's kinda what Bruce Wayne does at this point (minus killing anyone), unless the writer for a batman story has a hard on for Mark Millar batman stories, especially Dark Knight Returns.

  • We have a story about a kid who wants to go back in time to solve his pays and save his family but in doing so inadvertently loses his reality. This kid has to realize he needs to let go, Batman even tells him that much in the beginning.

That's what the movie is about? Just being a badly done Flashpoint Paradox?

  • and the guy who wrote Batman v Superman.

I mean, just about any DC ip movie writer is suspect as hell imo, because more often than not it feels like the writer had only read Dark Knight Returns, Killing Joke, and Watchmen. And coincidentally those three stories seem to always be the only ones that DC ever remembers publishing as well.

  • Honestly, just about every single problem with the sequel trilogy can be traced back to J.J. Abrams being given the reins for any amount of time.

  • Remember, every single manager at any factory is all about quality and safety, until it's crunch time on the production floor, and it's always crunch time on the production floor.

  • I know you're joking, but the takeaway here (and tbh a really damning thing here) is that the fine is that low for multiple safety violations that resulted in a death.

  • once nil started

The only difference between before and after nil, is that after nil the money is openly going to the players, where before it's known that some players were getting paid under the table. Not like directly handing them cash (though that did happen), but like they'll get a new car, their family's financial situation is given much needed relief, that sort of thing.

Well, and that I guess the amount being thrown around was likely a lot less back then so that the NCAA wouldn't be too attentive to it.

But really, it was a public secret that all the under the table paying the players was happening before nil came around and made it all get put out in the open.

  • Eh, I think they still want to do a hot war with China, but also understand that it would be bad optics at home if they were the ones that "fired the first shot" so to speak. So I think that if a war between the US and China breaks out, it will be China "firing the first shot", followed by the US slinging nukes at China.

  • Imho, 6 is worse than 7, but in a funny bad way rather than a massively frustratingly bad way.
