  • Just the fact that people like Hillary (so the grossest neolibs) were out screaming "Assadist!" at people for years was enough for me to go "Knowing nothing else about the situation, I can assume Assad is not the primary issue here." Similar to Putin or even Hezbollah and Hamas. Any or all of these organizations and/or people can be "bad" by some sort of moral standard. Think what you will.

The fact will always remain though, that the US doesn't oppose Hezbollah for their stance on gay people. They aren't against Putin because he has irredentist desires in his region. If the US was actually bombing countries for being anti-gay and irredentist we'd be bombing... ourselves, first off (extremely homophobic and transphobic country). And we'd be bombing Israel for being anti-gay AND constantly annexing territory illegally. So any claims by the Hillary-types (using her as an archetype) that "Assad is bad because X" "Hamas is bad because Y" "Gaddafi is bad because Z" ultimately is meaningless propaganda. Even if claims they make are true, the US and policy makers in the US are absolutely not the people who get to stand on some moral high ground. Anything Assad may have done, the US has done worse and to a greater magnitude.

I feel like I'm constantly going in circles repeating myself, but I guess all we can do is digitally scream at and humiliate liberals until they just shut the fuck up basically. If they wanna yell at someone, I can give them a healthy list of far worse people who have way way more power than Assad. Joe Biden is a start. Chuck Schumer. Fetterman. Even Bernie Sanders. Go yell at these people. Yell at Trump. Have fun. Just shut the fuck up about "ooohh Syrian bad man! You won't condemn him! But he is Putler and Hitler and son of Iran! Why not condemn? Why do you hate Taiwan???" (That feels like some crazy shit I'd actually read in comments on Twitter from libs)

  • Repeating and building on my most libbed up opinion: Jack Dorsey was the most benevolent CEO of a platform like Twitter that we can expect under capitalism. It's also incredibly fucking hilarious that he managed to get out of Twitter while retaining the right to create a Twitter 2.0 literal clone of Twitter.

If one day Twitter is a wasteland of tumbleweeds and Bluesky reaches Twitter levels of value. Maybe that will be the event that triggers my predicted Elon's full spiral and inevitable death at his own hands.

Throwing that in the MonkeyPaw-Wish-Caster-9000X (now with 75% more monkey paw!)

  • If I'm totally honest, while obviously this shit shouldn't be allowed, do you trust a corporation to remove Nazi content and not then "both sides" it by removing allllll the "plausibly communist" stuff they can find? Because I don't trust them. They'd be nuking shit about Stalin or even Lenin.

  • Somehow Cuba is always, and I do mean always, on the right side of every world issue since the Revolution. I hope in my lifetime a truly unchained Cuba is witnessed.

  • I call them liberals so much and so instinctively at this point that I legitimately get confused when they get all pissy. We should keep forcing it into common American understanding though.

The term "conservative" as it's popularly used 1) kinda means nothing (which is perfect for them) so 2) is an ever changing term.

A conservative in 1970 US politics vs now are very different in their approach and thinking... obviously some stuff remains unchanged, but in the 1960s/70s you could still just be like a Strom Thurmond KKK guy openly denouncing integration and rights for black people while serving in the senate until you're 100 goddamn years old... literally. Richard Nixon signed the EPA into law which today would be off the table even for Obama, I imagine. It would never get to his desk whatever his personal philosophy would be.

So their ideas and way of speaking changes since their only true ideology is something boiled down to "support 'free markets'" or allow capitalists to exploit labor maximumly and use any wedge issues which are beneficial along the way such as racism, abortion, etc. Maintain US hegemonic dominance around the world through soft and hard power, as required, in service to capital.

On the other hand, ask a hardcore fascist/Nazi or even KKK guy their thoughts in 1960 or today and it's "we want a separate nation only available for white people..." blah blah blah, all the shit. Their ideology remains the same as always. They believe in racial supremacy of white people, however they break that down, and they want a "pure land" for their chosen race. The more politically savvy ones will swap words around for plausible deniability, but the core ideology is basically the same in the end. They hate communists, they hate non-whites, especially being forced to live around and respect them as humans, they blame all societal ills on non-white minorities and/or non-cis, straight minorities. Same old tale.

On the left, if you filter out the liberals LARPing (gotta similarly filter the more libbed up conservatives from their Nazi compatriots as well), you'll hear the same arguments that communist-types have had since the 1960s, since the 1920s, and further back. Because it's rooted in an ideology, so specific arguments of the time period change maybe, wording might change, but fundamentals like labor being the source of all value and thus capitalists having no right to the value created by others... remains core and unchanged.

[this isn't a "give it to the Nazis for ideological purity" argument, btw, to the liberals in my walls. It's about political terminology and ties to strongly held ideology which American "liberals" and "conservatives" both share in common. Just about the only thing Nazis can ever coherently express is their hatred for non-white people. Beyond that, good fucking luck finding any sense in their statements and beliefs]

  • The whole dollars for blood thing in the US is a uniquely weird fucking thing

This country continues to find new lows day by day year by year

  • I was wondering why I felt sad all year

    Thanks for summing it up

  • Yeah... now if only we could do something about that whole "government literally never doing things in the interests/wishes of the general population problem"

It's funny how the media has polls upon polls upon polls for shit like this or, say, abortion. That thing which about 60-70% of Americans said should be legal, at least in some form, nationwide... what happened with that... oh... oh no...

There's probably some word or phrase for when the media puts it right out in the open that you do not live in anything even slightly resembling a democracy, your opinion does not matter, and we will shove it in your face daily so you see it plainly laid before you.

  • Oh no, the libs who commented here went "bye bye, folks."

Well this was my response to one of the dummies arguing against "authoritarianism." You can't even begin to talk with these people because they don't understand what authoritarian even means or the control mechanisms under which they already live. One of those control mechanisms is the illusion of freedom, which is rather ironic considering "but freedom!" seems to be this one "anti-tankie's" entire ideology. Anyway this was my response.

"You took on anarchist esthetics, but all of your political opinions are just liberalism.

    Liberals, famously not authoritarian.

You're a tankie by your own definition. Whomp whomp"

  • What extensions does chrome have which are useful that Firefox doesn’t?

My only recurring issue with Firefox, which may have been fixed I dunno, is it for some reason it “isn’t officially supported” or whatever exact wording to use hardware security keys (like yubikey, which I use on every account that allows it). It’s only certain websites that don’t want to work though. Like google, Microsoft and many others were fine but I think paypal didn’t want to work properly but it does work on Edge, Chrome, probably Brave. Overall annoying as fuck at times but I deal with it to be out of Google’s-world

  • As much as I love fanfic and stuff, I gotta say, without sitting here and digging too deep…

What domestic communists? In the US right now the number of actual leftists* is so fucking tiny. Educated or at least willing to listen to those who are? I’d be generous to say it’s even 1% of the population. Things can change, sure, but they barely changed in the last 2-3 decades where material conditions have rapidly fallen for the average US citizen. In 1960 I get why it would be difficult to convert the average white dude. In 2023 they should already be in the streets doing insert FBI would love me to say stuff here things. But the reality is… they just aren’t. There’s reasons for it, it’s on purpose obviously, but it’s still happening. Whatever actual left movement could exist simply does not at this point.

And just a small thing. Unless you’re talking 200 years from now in a totally different world, there will NEVER be some anti imperialist land invasion of the US. If even seriously considered by nations powerful enough (China basically right now but a coalition could form within Africa or whatever) it would end pretty quickly in nuclear exchange and ending of the world effectively for humans. The most likely thing is the world trying to ignore the US and let it just collapse on itself and never bother with some risky and impossible liberation of NA mission.

*my simple definition is anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist (which as an American basically means anti-US military. Weirdly hard hurdle for many!), anti-NATO, anti-colonialism in all forms. Probably some other stuff too but that’s like the low bar and it can’t be just statements but rather principled takes which can be articulated to some degree. Claiming to support Palestine then also saying Israel has a right to exist, for example, is not acceptable to me. I’ll accept blind “USA BAD!” As a fill-in.)

  • The truly amazing thing to me is all the liberals who still think the politics of Obama or Biden, etc. will somehow help anything or save anyone. Even from a selfish American standpoint, their only standpoint of course, what the fuck do they think Obama did for them? I mean goddamn Biden is the first president in decades it feels like to do ANYTHING positive (pulling out of Afghanistan finally but of course that was no good he had to plunge immediately into Ukraine/Russia bullshit 🤦‍♂️). A bar so low you’d pass it purely by accident.

“We” are so fucked. The dollar stuff ultimately is kinda meh but it’s another stone in a bucket labeled “US collapse.” It’s really really fucking sad but at this point I think the best short term outcome, ie the next president, is someone who DOES openly acknowledge “it’s over. Let’s negotiate a dignified step down.” Biden has shown that won’t be him. Trump is probably too nationalistic and the hogs in his cabinet would absolutely never allow it (imagine “genocide is fun” John Bolton ever engaging in good faith with China or some collective of African nations. He’d be smashing the invade button the whole time). So, I dunno, at the risk of realistic doomerism… we’re fucked. There will be no nice dignified stepping aside or sharing power. It’s all gonna get ridden full blast into the ground and we’ll probably all die along the way. Hopefully the whales or squid that take over the world some day do better.

  • Zoomers gonna zoom

E: Apparently zoomers can’t take a joke. Get over yourselves nerds
