  • Can't wait to send 400000 tons of pig iron by a plane. You are missing the cargo trains (that mostly use the same tracks and are rail company's bread and butter) in your calculations.

  • I bought an air purifier last winter. Now I can't find a replacement filter anywhere. Fuck that forced obsolescence crap.

  • Meanwhile, estimated cost of reaching global zero carbon emissions is just 17 trillion dollars.

  • Allegations of Sexual Abuse Against OpenAI CEO Sam Altman

Sam Altman, a prominent figure in the artificial intelligence field, has been accused of sexually abusing his sister during their childhood in Clayton, Missouri. The allegations came to light through a lawsuit filed on Jan. 6 by the Mahoney Law Firm in Glen Carbon, Illinois.

In the lawsuit, it is claimed that the abuse occurred between 1997 and 2006, starting when Altman was 12 years old and his sister, Ann, was only 3 years old. The abuse allegedly continued until Ann was 11 years old and Altman was an adult.

  • Are we doing recipes? Here's one for tinginys!

    Ingredients

    • 14.1 oz 400 grams of simple cookies or digestive biscuits. The best ones are super plain Gaidelis biscuits.
    • a can of condensed milk

    1 1/4 sticks of butter about 150 g

    • 5 tablespoons of cacao powder
    • any optional add-ins chocolate chunks, raisins, nuts

    Instructions

    1. Take all the cookies and crush them by hand into small pieces or smash them with a meat hammer, but don't crush them all into paste.
    2. Melt the butter. Add the cacao powder and the condensed milk to the melted butter and mix it well.
    3. Add the butter mixture to the bowl of crushed cookies and mix well.
    4. Optional: Add any mix-ins. Chocolate chunks, various nuts, dried berries, etc.
    5. Now, pour the mixture in the cake pan and cover it with cling film. Alternatively, pour it on cling film and shape it in the desired shape. I sometimes just use thin plastic bags and shape them into loaves.
    6. Cool the shaped mixture in the fridge for at least 2 hours but ideally, overnight.
    7. Once cooled, slice it up and serve it with tea or coffee. The end result will look like this:

  • Yes, they don't belong here.

  • Same.

  • This is the reasoning behind "the broken window policing": if you do a small crime and get caught, you are less likely to do a bigger crime.

  • Russian military has no charismatic and competent leaders at the top just for this reason. That's why they keep failing in Ukraine, but also why there's nobody to pull off a Prigozhin.

  • There exists a consensus among scholars that Jesus of Nazareth spoke the Aramaic language.[1][2] Aramaic was the common language of Roman Judaea, and was thus also spoken by Jesus' disciples. The villages of Nazareth and Capernaum in Galilee, where he spent most of his time, were populated by Aramaic-speaking communities.[3] Jesus probably spoke the Galilean dialect, distinguishable from that which was spoken in Roman-era Jerusalem.[4] Based on the symbolic renaming or nicknaming of some of his apostles, it is also likely that Jesus or at least one of his apostles knew enough Koine Greek to converse with non-Judaeans. It is reasonable to assume that Jesus was well versed in Hebrew for religious purposes, as it is the liturgical language of Judaism.[5][6][7][8]

I mixed up Aramaic and Anatolian, my bad.

  • Fiber is like rail transport for the internet: expensive, high throughput infrastructure along a defined path. But when it's already there, it's very hard to beat.

Oh right, Musk stopped the discussion of proposed rail expansion with his Boring tunnels and Hyperloop, now he is doing the same thing to the internet.

  • Yes, but if they convict you, the copyright holders can use your case as a precedent for suing the AI companies. At least that's the way I understand it, I don't live in a country with precedent law.

  • There is an anime called Silver Spoon, based on a manga made by the author of Fullmetal Alchemist. It's about a student that starts studying in a school of agriculture.

  • I find it kinda mesmerizing, ngl.
