  • In my personal experience people judge it to be more like 25-100%. But I stand by 200kcal being nothing. It's not a make it or break it kind of difference. 200kcal more doesn't make someone obese or even fat. If you over eat by 200kcal a day it will take a long time to get fat and you will have years to intervene with a slight change that will fix it. And that would only be in the most extreme case. For most people we are talking about much less than 200kcal. If you have actually only a differnce of let's say 50kcal from the median and cite that as a reason for being over or underweight it's just wrong. But I have seen people use it as a reason so many times.

"In humans, the coefficient of variation in the components of total daily energy expenditure is around 5-8% for resting metabolic rate."

That is nothing. That means the most extreme examples of this would be 200-300kcal. It's often just used as an excuse for a bad diet. And people believing in this myth is hindering them in making informed decisions.

  • I just got a warning and [removed by reddit] because I told a dry cut story about turkish coworkers of mine harassing women and queer people and talking about stuff like "buying wifes" from their home country as an answer to someone posting a similar story. I got warned for "promoting hate and violence against marginalized groups". I made no generelizations, promoted no violence or hate. I actually got upset because of my coworkers doing exactly that. This is not the internet as I know it. Where you get censored because you talked about something that happened in your life.

  • Well I usually only ride my bike, so I have barely any use for google maps. I usually use naviki or osmand. Maps is trash for bikes. But sometimes maps is nice to find a shop in the city and see opening times, reviews and a website link.

  • You can see this in the netherlands. Barely any cars on the road compared to germany. I sometimes need to deliver items there for work and it's so much nicer to drive there. Also you are always punctual because traffic is so predictable.

  • The effects are not significant. They barely make a dent in what you can eat. Thyroid and other illnesses impacts appetite though.

  • Fast metabolism isn't even a thing really. It has been proven to be pretty insignificant.

  • Osm it is If I see this even once I'm uninstalling maps

  • They say this and then reject every technological solution that exists. Like wind or solar energy. Trains. Ebikes. The goalposts always get moved to some not yet existant technology so nothing needs to change.

  • This reminds me of when I wanted to go on my balcony and drink a coffee. So I made one and walked to my balcony coffee in hand to see a coffee on my window ledge. Facepalm. Then I walk outside and see a coffe on the window ledge outside aswell. No working memory.

  • In german media there is so much content about america even I sometimes get confused whoch country I actually live in.

  • The sony wf series sound honestly amazing. Not very repairable though. That counts for every brand though.

  • Schwalbe at least takes old tires back to recycle them. I can hand mine in at my bike shop. Maybe other brands have something similar.

  • Jesus christ that is appaling. What stupid fucking vehicles.

  • Well berlin is certainly a different place than the rest of germany. They are famous for their "berliner schnauze" like new york or paris are famous for honest and/or rude people.
