I'm beautiful and tough like a diamond...or beef jerky in a ball gown.

  • I just blocked the instance. I'm not judging based on that since the instances that do block ml are (still) the minority. Tankies notwithstanding, there are too many communities people would FOMO about if an instance were to defed from ml.

That said, I would happily support the admins' decision to do so if they ever decide to, but I'm not gonna insist they do since I can block it myself

  • Clearly 😆. But these people would still find something to complain about. Ugh.

  • My home instance has some awesome custom emojis. :)

  • There have been multiple different articles posted like this one of various actors throwing in support for Kimmel / admonishing Disney. A good chunk of the replies to those posts are in the exact vein (or closely paraphrased) in my comment above and yours to which I replied. The common theme is nitpicking and whining and nothing ever being good enough.

  • Oh. My. God.

"[Actor/Actress] speaks out against Disney / in support of Kimmel"

    Lemmy:

    • Well, what about [other actors/actresses]? Imagine if it was them saying this. Why are they so quiet?
    • It would be more meaningful if they actually had a show on Disney right now. Since they don't, it's just performative theater.
    • [Actor active with Disney speaks out] If he cared about Disney ethics, he wouldn't be making movies for them anyway.

Can we not just appreciate the high-profile support here? Is nothing ever good enough for you people? What does it freaking take to satisfy you??

  • The choice of words reminds me of one of the Comedy Central roasts. Can't remember which one, but Marlee Matlin was one of the roasters. She's deaf, but she can speak just fine.

Part of her set was, halfway through, she got Gilbert Gottfried (also on the dais) to "be her voice" for the rest of it. So he read her lines from the teleprompter in his way plus or minus a few tangents. Then this...

    I lost it 😆

  • Uh, have you ever seen a heated argument in ASL? It's intense.

To a blind person, a deaf argument would sound exactly like a slap fight from the fury of signs flying back and forth.

  • And in some unfortunate cases, not tidy.

  • Was reading a book a while back, and one of the character's names is "Aura". Wouldn't be opposed to seeing that one becoming popular.

  • Not sure what country, but in the US, wouldn't that technically be illegal (at least between co-workers)? I know some places, such as call centers, won't let you speak another language to customers without approval (for liability reasons, I assume).

She would get very angry really fast if she heard anything in a language she didn't understand.

    Karen es una cabrón.

  • There's always next birthday lol.

  • "Am I the asshole?" (And giving it honest reflection).

    1. Not everyone is a goddamned literal Nazi.

Is Disney in the wrong here? You betcha. Are they a shit media conglomerate? Oh, boy, yeah. Are they anywhere close to what's depicted here? Not even remotely.

Goddamn, it's like people around here call everything and everyone they don't like a Nazi. Starting to not even sound like a word anymore.

Edit: To clarify: There are enough actual Nazis in the world as it is. Stop inventing new ones.

  • Jesus Christ, Godwin's Law would like to have a word.

  • I was thinking he was still human, but part of his rigging for this setup included running shields at maximum, life support at 5,000%, and pressurizing the space inside the shield bubble.

  • Oh, your hair is (pause) fine.

  • The crossover I didn't know I needed.

  • Oof. Well, I'll keep shopping then. Looking for something a little more plug-and-play than that.
