  • That's why you need your own server for email I guess.

  • The conversion kit market might meet this desire a bit.

  • My cat likes to clean my hair.

  • Feed it Microsoft Merlin. What will happen?

  • Weird Al can probably fill the void.

  • Can't even update Firefox in place. Have to download a new copy, run it from the downloads folder, make a desktop shortcut myself, which doesn't have the Firefox icon.

Can't remember if that was mint or Ubuntu I was fiddling with, but it's not exactly user friendly.

  • Does this have any implications for Rustdesk? I suspect not, but not 100% sure.

  • I wonder how many rail trails are passable with it? Some have narrow dividers to block larger vehicles.

  • Nice that they're reusing land that was previously a coal mine, not farm land.

  • Express VPN for foreign free to air TV, ad blocking on multiple devices. 200gb Google Cloud storage. Vultr VPN for Wireguard.

  • I'm still running an older version of NextPVR with three usb tuners and Comskip.exe - it gets most of the ads out of free to air automatically.

Ublock origin and / or expressvpn seem to block some ads on the catch up services, but not all.

YouTube with Ublock origin and Sponsorblock work well.

Newpipe Sponsorblock fork is good as well.

  • I guess I'm the odd one out. I quite enjoy my Arlec / grid connect stuff for simple things that could be done with wires, timers and the like.

Tasks include: Controlling the aircon and a basic heater with Universal IR. Running ventilation fans to force air through the house when the missus opens a door for a smoke. Letting the goats out on schedule when they were young. Enabling different banks of batteries to run or charge for the inverter circuit by schedule or sunlight amount. Monitor power usage on the chargers and output to the inverter circuit. Charge the battery mower to 80% only, roughly. Charge my phone to 80% only, roughly. Power up the office lighting / TV / monitors / amp etc when I enter, off when I leave. Keep my dog cool at night but not too cold. (fan control)

Granted I'm not looking forward to the day that grid connect dies, but I belive I can convert to Tuya locally hosted if that happens.

None of these need a subscription.

Likewise my outdoor Reolink camera has free cloud storage but only if you renew it every month, which is a pain.

  • Also handy on horrible cheap raised hex bolts when they get stripped. Dremel a slot and you're done.

  • This post was a good deal more innocent than I thought it was going to be.

    And quite interesting.

It's a bit of a nightmare though how sometimes it's the inability to swallow that sends people into care when they age or get crook.

  • The droid restraining bolt?

  • I first saw it on YouTube when a local TV station posted the raw video.

I wasn't looking at any other media at the time.

  • ... Hide all notifications from OneDrive.

That shut up the 'backup' prompt.

  • The Beach Boys IIRC.
