  • I usually just gather a nibble by picking up a couple crumbs... I'll see myself out.

  • Napping. Not everyone understands the fun that can be had.

  • I'm sure a successor will come around when room forms for them, I don't know of a reason any of the core *arr stack should need one. If you know of one don't hesitate to share, I'm just not really aware of any, they are awesome to me.

  • Odd way to phrase it, but I totally agree.

I would have been a bit more specific, but it applies to all of them (they aren't the reason I don't trust Google either).

  • Sadly I'm not completely switched away yet, I'm doing the best I can with the sacrifices I'm willing to make and accepting what I can't. I run GOS on a pixel, it has GPS but severely locked down, most apps get denied the network permission and pretty much nothing has access to any data outside of limited storage scopes or the minimum contacts (i.e. Android Auto can only see two contacts in my phone and can't see any SMS/messaging).

Beyond that I do the usual Google replacements (Nextcloud for files/seedvault backups, immich for photo backups, CoMaps instead of Google Maps, etc).

I yern for the day I can have an old flip phone with a hotspot built in for a few apps on other devices (or bt tethering).

  • America isn't the reason I don't use Google Play Services... Google is the reason for that specific choice for me.

  • Personally when I need something and have seen an ad for a product that fits the need, I'll buy it. If I've seen the ad so much that it's seared into my brain, I search for the product and buy the ripoff version of it (when possible), or I DIY it.

    Edit: corrected autocorrect

  • I'd say it says more about the listener in that situation. GIMP is a great name for a GNU Image Manipulation Program, just like Fanny Pack perfectly describes a bag worn around the waist but you'd be surprised the looks you get in the UK for not calling it a "Bum Bag" instead.

The people the immediately assume it must have to do with sexual fetishes (or make that connection) just aren't as familiar with what the rest of the world has been up to.

  • When I realized they paywalled OIDC I had to look elsewhere.

  • As a current one I concur.

  • I suppose the older I get the more I can get behind this, similar to interlock devices for people that can't control their drinking, I would imagine the offender would have to pay for it or lose their license. I know it seems crazy to force people to stay within the speed limit, but fining and tickets don't work for some people.

  • My sincerest apologies friend, I have a few less years of formal education than most of the people on here. I believe my confusion was due to my utter lack of understanding, I was equating median with the physical barrier placed in between sides of a divided highway.

Once again though, my apologies and thank you for providing me with a bit of knowledge! Always happy to be part of the 10k.

  • I'm half with you; eminent domain it, but I wouldn't trust his tunnels with humans in them. Maybe it could be repurposed as a way to redirect flood waters or something. His tunneling ability is right up there with his morality acumen.

  • Tell that to the untouched land behind me that when brought to the planning commission was hit with more complaints than they could handle and it was withdrawn. A new plan was slipped through avoiding the lot that touched homes so they didn't have to notify anyone. It was approved and they immediately cleared the lot that wasn't in the plan citing the need for an emergency exit. Then they added about 80 foot of elevation to the property (so much dirt and dust).

  • Umm... So assuming their youngest viewer is 0, who the fuck is the 140 year old still watching the news? I'm going to go out on a limb and reread that in my head as the "mean" age (average) instead of "median" (being the mid-point in a range).

I hate to be that guy, but words used to have meanings.

  • Thank you for not only the laughter this morning but also for perfectly explaining why I always go for nano.

  • It claims to be an open source alternative to Teams/Slack/etc. I thought Mattermost was pretty cool until I installed it, then I realized stuff like OIDC was locked behind a paywall and that is a requirement I rarely wave for things I run at home. After a bit of fighting I just abandoned it.

  • Yeah, some of us never forget and fondly remember every embarrassing moment we've witnessed, thankfully most of us know to not bring it up and just enjoy it to ourselves.

  • I've used both but really like jotty...
