  • My guess is Barron. If he's trying to imitate NK, establishing a dynasty and getting rid of elections would be the starting point. And with all the talk of a 3rd term.... my guess is that's the goal. No dictator lasts forever, so ensuring a favorable transfer of power is vital. And if trying to deify yourself, the next closest thing is your progeny.

  • I'm part of this as well. I read a ton as a kid to the point my parents took away my books as punishment. Gaming definitely did (and does) take up more and more time I could be reading with. But it's honestly been give and take. Recent games reignited a desire to read sci fi, so I got 3 books into the Dune series and read Neuromancer and some of Gibsons other short stories just this year.

    I hope that we see a resurgence similar to vinyl, where physical media gets a revival. I'll admit, i read quite a few books on my phone. Maybe I'm getting old, but having the actual books is becoming more and more appealing by the day. It might be coming back guys!

  • I live in a desert and like having a puddle of oil on the counter even less. Winter months, sure. But 75% of the year it just isn't an option. I've lost entire freshly opened sticks leaving them out for a couple hours after cooking.

  • When the latter doesn't trigger the empathy, I resort to the former. Some people are just too focused on their immediate surroundings to extend their empathy beyond their immediate family. That's an issue in itself, but whatever discussion is going on in OP is not going to address that

  • It does, and almost feels like there's a resurgence of it to me. But maybe I'm just seeing it for the first time. Went to a show with Stand Atlantic, Magnolia Park, and The Home Team and they nail that alt rock vibe pretty well while still adding modern touches. And I found that just looking at local shows at moderately sized venues near me.

  • Any of the 20 main english anime actors? Idk anime actors like that, someone else probably does, but i HAVE skimmed their IMDB's and god damn. Some of these people have 200+ roles in the last decade. There's gotta be some protag typecast whose team could just wipe out entire solar systems with minimal effort.
